Seriously?? LOL, top 5? Your homerism is radiating. I love Luis' game, his hustle, but top 5. Here is the PER list...you will find him at.......well, let's just say he didn't even make the top 20. http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/holl...n.go.com/nba/hollinger/statistics?position=pf
1. Motiejunas 2. White 3. Patterson 4. Jones 5. Leuer 6. Scola (I'm being facetious, but you get the point.)
Some free agents we could pursue next year: Josh Smith, Chris Paul, Monta Ellis, James Harden, Ty Lawson... Josh Smith, in my opinion, should be our target! He averaged 18.8 points, 9.6 rebounds and 1.7 blocked shots per game! Not only that, but he is a close friend of Dwight's! We would be an incredible defensive team to build upon and well on our way to a championship! Normally I would try to put a roster together, but I really have no idea what this team will look like at all if we pull this trade off!
What are the expected salaries for said promising athletes? Hope we get 2 of those + dhoward of course.
I think they'd go for Paul or Harden first. An inside/outside game would be nice. And while I'm no NBA coach, I can't really see Josh Smith playing effectively beside Dwight Howard. Howard needs a power forward that can spread the floor. Josh Smith isn't that. He isn't even close to that.
I'd vomit if I saw Scola in a Mav's jersey. http://espn.go.com/dallas/nba/story...las-mavericks-prepared-bid-heavily-luis-scola
We probably would only be able to get one of those players at a max contract, unless Morey is able to pull an ever bigger miracle after this one!
well, Josh Smith is due 13M this year, and as he is only 27 this year, safe to say he will probably command more than that...probably 15M at least.
Josh Smith may not spread the floor but Smith + Howard would EASILY be the best defensive and rebounding frontcourt in the NBA.
http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q64 So...this is more promising. BUT it only explicitly states the cap hit can be spread for contracts signed under the new CBA. To my knowledge all of the contracts in question were signed under the old CBA. So does this mean we are SOL?
