He can play but he can't play well enough, is the issue. Adelman seems to like his current rotation and we've had success with it. McGrady pissed him off last season, but anyone that has seen him in some games, know that against the likes of the Magic, he didn't bring anything to the team and those are the types he is supposed to be needed for. You can argue, he didn't have enough time, but it was enough to see how his overall game worked with the starters. It wasn't great and when he arrived on the floor he became a defensive liability, so why continue to humor him when he isn't ready. The fact is, our bench players for the past few years have been our fastest group, McGrady as he is now wouldn't fit and our starters play a very good defensive game outside of Brooks, throwing McGrady in there at the cost of Shane or even Ariza leaves us at a disadvantage right now. I would love for McGrady to slowly be worked back up to playing shape coming off the bench, but from all indications, the coaches have seen that he will be more of a liability then help. So pretty much, this is what it has come to. The haters must be happy but as a guy that thinks McGrady could still be effective for us, down the line this season and around the playoffs, like Mutumbo was proving to be last year before he went down in the second game, I think this is a shame that hopefully will not end in Houston acquiring a bunch of crappy contracts we will wind up buying out or waiving just to be rid of McGrady for a 'star' that probably won't live up to hype this season.
congratulations, your man was in mvp talks. what a huge achievement! and i know for a fact that we owe our 2nd round playoff berth to the man as well. the man sacrificed and took one for the team by not participating in the playoffs; and the team went past the 1st round for the first time in a decade.
