unbelievable game between Argentina and Panama. Argentina played its best basketball in the tournament in the first quarter... then the team played very very bad. Now they are going to Overtime. Scola fouled out in the last minutes. the refs... Argentina 24 fouls, Panama 14...
He scored twenty points and I think he got more than 7 rebounds. Don't have his numbers yet. Argentina won by 17.
20 pts (8/16 fg, 4/4 ft), 8 rbs, 2 as in 30 minutes vs. Panama. Preliminary round averages: 17.3 pts (55.3% fg, 85% ft), 8.3 rbs, 3.2 as, 27.5 min.
Thanks. Quite excellent averages. If he brings these numbers to the NBA, he will definitely be a contender for ROY.
Ill be happy with 14-15 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assits in 30 minutes with some good defense. I guess he will play 25 minutes so he will probably get 12 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists
panama played a hell of a game, bad coaching at the end of regulation when argentina came back from a 9 pt deficit to tie the game and go into overtime.
I will be shocked if Scola averages double figures next season. Don't forget we have two superstars and several proven scorers on the roster.
According to one guy here who acts like he knows all about Euroleague, V-Span leaves Scola in the dust. I agree with you.
For all we know Scola could be the second coming of Boki Nachbar - Glued to the pine. Coach's Decision DNP
two different players, 2 different styles of play. scola will be part of the playing rotation, no question about that.
Not to derail the thread too much on this, but with two 20+ scorers plus SF, MJ, Bonzi, etc, how do you expect Scola to average 10+ points in his first year in the NBA? If he far exceeds reasonable expectations and averages 30+ mins/game for the full season, it could happen but that is doubtful. There may be some stretches where he gets double figures for 7-8 games in a row but he won't average 10+ for the full season. I'm also factoring in a slow start. My hope is by the end of the season, he's fully established as THE MAN at PF and finishes up strong with consistent 10-12-15 point games. If Scola ends up scoring 10+ pts/game on only 20-25 mins, great deal for us! But it isn't realistic.
