I don't know ONE PERSON that still uses aim (besides those of you on here.) I've been strictly MSN for the last 4 years or so.
according to the article today http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051012/ap_on_hi_te/microsoft_yahoo "AOL's instant-messaging product, AIM, had 51.5 million unique U.S. users in September, compared with about 27.3 million for MSN Messenger and 21.9 million for Yahoo's Messenger, according to Nielsen/NetRatings." Looks like a lot more on aim...
And most of their users are below the age of 18. I use MSN Messenger exclusively, and am happy to see that Yahoo and MSN are joining their networks to take out AOL.
I've been using AIM for 8 years now. I fear change. Plus, none of my friends are ever on MSN so I don't even bother. And I'm having a problem here at school (UT). Every time I try to connect to AIM, it lets me on for about 10 seconds before cutting me off. I know why it does this. My computer is constantly refreshing the connection to the network here. I need to know how to make it stop. Because it doesn't just affect AIM. I have to click links at least three or four times before they work. The times before that, it just takes me to "Page not found" and I have to refresh or go back and reclick the link. Anyone know how to fix this? I never had this problem when I used this computer at home.
Or... Instead of you people fighting over AIM vs. MSN vs. Yahoo... ... you could use one program (Trillian or Gaim) and to connecto to ALL of them.
Aim Ad Hack is a lot cleaner than that b.s. you download from AOL. PS - despite my linking you directly to a program that's called AIM, I urge everyone here to join me in my quest to end AIM and simply use Yahoo instead..
Tyree, the 51.5 million users for AIM... ummm... they could have just said: "All High Schools use AIM" and be done with it. Check your program, I bet you have a virus.
I use Yahoo, but for no other reason than that they block AIM and MSN at work. I've used them all, and I don't really have a preference. Used to use Trillion or GAIM a lot in college, but these days I only ever talk to people at work or family.
Go to: http://webmessenger.msn.com/ and you can use MSN in your work ( but you only can talk with your friends and family, you cant send files or view pictures)
AIM and only AIM because that's what everyone started doing back in 6th/7th grade, and we've all just stayed with the same thing ever since. I've actually somehow managed to keep the same screen name from middle school all the way up through college.
well...you have to remember that includes all the people on AOL since AIM is the one that is included with AOL. hardly a glowing recommendation. I normally have yahoo or msn going when I use messaging...mirc is cool for me also.
