There’s a good roster in there somewhere but they’ve done an amazing job of ****ing up some aspect of the game almost every single night. Abreu is washed.
If you're going to bust the Lux Tax level to get Hader, why would another few million matter? I can't explain the "why" of the 1B/Belt situation, but it makes zero sense to me that money is the factor.
Yeah, I know he just did. I'm just looking at teams with players with bad contracts at this point to get any value out of Abreu's contract.
Spoiler It’s my fault Jim Crane sent Jeff Bagwell to sign me It’s my fault the SP outside of Ronel Blanco/Cristian Javier can’t make it out the 3rd inning It’s my fault the big 3 bullpen guys can’t hold a lead It’s my fault Bregman goes MIA the first month and a half of the season It’s my fault Jon Singleton is my backup and the best they could do It’s my fault they gave Rafael Montero $34M It’s my fault Jeremy Peña rolls over everything It’s my fault Joe Espada appears in over his head It’s my fault they don’t open the roof It’s my fault they can’t win at home, going back to 2019 It’s my fault the farm system is depleted It’s my fault Jim Crane ran off Jeff Luhnow, AJ Hinch, James Click, Dusty Baker, Reid Ryan for Jeff Bagwell and Reggie Jackson It’s my fault they charge for $20 parking It’s my fault you ordered a Heineken and got hot piss beer It’s my fault I’m an aging 37-year old who no longer has it. It really is my fault. I’m sorry.
They've played more than half their games against the more-injured Astros and Oakland. They haven't played a division leader. How many games have their injured players missed? I only see Jung (15) and a couple games by Seager. JAbreu is worse than an injury. He can't stop playing.
I don’t think anything is wrong with Pressly physical. It’s more of not taking the demotion well. Went from stud closer for us last few years (especially in playoff) and his reward is move to setup man instead of a new contract. Players are not robot and are emotional too. Trade the man and he’ll be a lockdown closer again for someone. Wouldn’t surprise me that he’s already checked out this year. #FreePressly
Oh I know I was just replying with what I would do They also aren’t totally benching Abreu, regardless of what should happen
There's still plenty of season left, but that won't be the case if things don't change soon. Losing is contagious. The last 2 days were evidence that this team is infected. They don't add on when they have a lead and then something always happens that usually doesn't but ends up costing them the lead and then the game. Getting Verlander back Friday is the first step to the cure. He will kick some ass if someone makes a mistake that costs him a lead, late. I will be watching how the team plays Friday and expect improvement. Next 11 are vs Nats, Cubs, Rockies, and Guardians. If they win 7 then the infection may be cured and we can move forward eith hope. If they win less than 6 they are in big trouble and moves need to be made.
It’s not just the additional money they would be spending, it’s also the amount they still owe Abreu. In a world where Abreu was only making say $5M this year and next, I can all but guarantee he wouldn’t be getting this much leash.
Hadn't heard that, it certainly explains why he's at home on his couch. Loperfido then. No idea what average-ish MLB guys on crappy teams would be available. I liked the Belt idea just because it'd be a 1-year commitment.
Also aren't they around $20 million to the next tax line? I think Nook said he was looking for $10 million. I guess as the season goes, maybe he'll drop his price. But say it's $10 million. The Astros now have $10 million at the deadline unless Crane decides to go over to the next tier. Also Belt turns 36 this week I believe. Any chance he can pull a Abreu and his age is making them reluctant?
