He is considered to have more upside than Gilbert - but he is more volatile. He reminds me a lot of Barry Larkin in his tool set - but he has a LOT to prove before even being a big leaguer.
Make no mistake about it - Gomez can hit, he has a natural aptitude for it. He needs to get bigger, but he already is bigger and stronger than a year ago- as long as he stays healthy and out of trouble, he will be a good one.
Tough start for Corona and Metlon. Combined 1-23 to start the season. Bring them up they would fit right in with Bregman and Abreu.
All I know is that he had an injury and a family issue that ended up basically taking up his whole season last year. Now he is VERY young, and should have been like a sophomore in high school at the time.
They haven’t hit for much power, but none of the 9 guys age 20 or younger have looked overmatched here in the early going. That Houston could field an entire lineup of 19/20 year olds from full season ball is very exciting: C Bush 1B Luciano 2B Hernandez SS Jaworsky 3B Nunez RF Baez CF Gomez LF Ochoa DH Encarnacion
