Yep, as long as his back is ok, we really don't need a backup PG, with: KPJ Green Ego Christopher One of them can share the load if Nix Spits the bit. DD
Yeah, the guy who will probably play less than 10 minutes a game will cause a tank. No hyperbole there.
Waive him, re-sign him with a 2-way contract (is that possible?) and sign DJ Augustin to teach him, Ty, KPJ and Green point guard skills, while offering a solid 15 mpg off the bench to run the offense whenever we need it.
Imo nix, jc, and mathews should not be in the rotation. I want tari, tate, and kj getting more minutes. KPJ, Jalen, EG, Bari, Sengun, Tate, KJ, Tari, and Bruno should be the rotation.
Nix is a great basketball player, his lack of athleticism just hinders him at the highest level. At the G league or Euro level he will have a long career.
It's all about what level he's playing at, he was great at the G league level, which should translate to a good career overseas. Even with that, he's among the top 1% of the top 1% of guys to ever play organized basketball. That's nothing to sneeze at.
Since everyone is going to be tanking early there's going to be a lot of backup quality PGs available sooner rather than later as the Rockets make their mad dash for 27 wins
I think this is accurate. He's just not someone who should be an NBA point guard, because he doesn't seem to be excellent at any one particular skill an NBA point guard should have.
I feel like the guard rotation will be: KPJ, Green, Gordon, and Christopher and Nix will only play when one is injured.
nix can get to the hoop he just can't finish. he seems mentally overwhelmed. maybe we can root for him to do a poole-esque transformation.
Isn't Augustin with the Lakers? He seemed pretty solid to me while he was with the Rockets. While I have no idea what can be done with Nix's contract (or even if something should be done - his play seems to be consistently inconsistent, however), Augustin would be a good influence on our primary ball handlers, in my opinion. Doesn't hurt that he shot 40% from 3 in limited minutes last season.
Not a fan of anything I saw from his in preseason. If neither Lucas nor Silas have been able to get through to him regarding his weight, I think there's probably no hope it happens without a minor traumatic event at the very least (getting waived). I have a feeling Tyty is going to snatch the backup PG spot 20-30 games into the season.
