I am good with what Stone did. The ridiculous reactions after 10 games is entertaining to watch. I am in chill mode looking forward to the future with Green, Sengun and whoever else is along for this ride.
I was going to say exactly this. You draft both and plan to trade Wood at the deadline and you don't waste money on Theis. In that scenario, you are probably still playing Wall though, but that's better than completely wasting the #2 pick.
Trade: Houston out: Christian Wood and picks 23 & 24 Houston in: Pick #3 Cleveland out: Pick #3 Cleveland in: Picks #7, #14, #23 & #24 GS Out: Picks #7 & #14 GS in: Christian Wood Then make the deal for Sengun and you end up with Green, Mobley and Sengun.
It’s not a 100% fact but we most likely wouldn’t have drafted both considering Sengun can barely get minutes as is. Mobley would’ve made the minute situation even worse.
I don't know about all this but I stated well before draft we should trade in Wood and get both Green and Mobley.
nice my memory is faulty but there is this thread : https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/would-you-trade-down.312399/#post-13640955 Barnes + SGA holy moly. I was very high on Green, Cade, and Barnes. The only prospect I didn't like was Mobley and I'll admit I was wrong about him. I'm still riding with Green because I think our Coach has done the absolute worst job possible in making him look good.
Having Mobley and Sengun would be fun. But on an incidental note... Look, in hindsight right now I would've traded that 2nd pick for a king's ransom and just ridden with Sengun and Garuba. But it's still early. It will be early until Jalen's third year. This is what you take on when you draft a 19 year old. It's like getting a puppy. Btw if you don't understand this don't get a puppy for Christmas, please. We don't really know who these guys are yet and we'll still only have an incomplete picture at the end of the season.
Sengun was a steal. Could have gotten Mobley with Sengun. If we're talking elseworld, Mobley could have easily taken Theis' role, where Theis wasn't a Rocket, Al-p coming off the bench as it is right now. Cavs got Mobley playing at SF even. Evan, Alperen and Christian all could be in the same lineup.
Mobley would have looked like a bust here also with the current structure and philosophy. Same for all of the highly touted prospects. Not sure how any of them would have been able to flourish here.
The tallest guy we have is Wood, but he doesn't rim protect. Theis while OK in some games, was not the answer for other team's back up bigs; like Jeremy Grant or JaVale McGee. I've no idea if our offense would be better with Mobley, can't be any worse since we're 30th. But on defense, a switchable 7 ft. could definitely improve rim protection, adds front court depth, don't have to force JaeSean to always play against guys, who are a foot taller than him.
