What the worse part is the people who are sick and don’t have insurance. Are they going to seek help? The scary part of it is I believe people who don’t have insurance won’t seek help because of costs. This is my worry.
Trump is straight up incompetent on multiple levels. His defenders like bigtexxx and mojoman won't even defend him. Sad!
That was FauxNews, Rush Limbaugh, Republicans and the Conservative viewpoint. The virus is "Targeting" Trump (Ok....atleast the coverage of it was....The coverage reporting the truth).
Boy do I have bad news for you. There are two strains of the virus that we know of and they offer none or very limited cross immunity. Meaning you can go through the disease TWICE.
The EU woudnt' sent the US medicines and gear. France and Germany ysterday even refused to help Italy let alone the US. Both have banned the export of their medicines. Everyone is bracing for impact.
I don't think they have determined if they are separate strains. One mutation can change the genome without changing the protein structure on the surface and thus it's the same strain. It's still very early.
no unfortunately it has been determined. The mutation is the on the gene that connects to the ace receptors. They are called the L and the S strain. Noone has any clue yet which of them or both are spreading in Europe and the US. *if one of your patient zeros came from Wuhan before it was quarantined then the strain they have spread is 70% likely to be the more lethal L strain. The no immunity part is based on some people in Wuhan getting sick again while already having recovered, There were others who were infected by both at the same time.
Trump's coronavirus task force is reportedly awaiting 'research' from Jared Kushner before making an emergency declaration Trump is hesitant to declare a full emergency, according to three people familiar with the decision-making who spoke with Politico, and instead leaning toward a more limited response that would keep in-line with his tendency to downplay the severity of the virus. "The task force will not give Trump its final verdict until Kushner "finishes his research and comes to a conclusion himself," Politico reported. the only thing that Kushner knows about the science behind viruses is that he doesn't understand it; the health of Americans is being held hostage by a non-scientist. https://www.businessinsider.com/jar...-holding-up-a-coronavirus-order-report-2020-3
The reagent that is in short supply apparently comes from Europe. https://www.statnews.com/2020/03/10/shortage-crucial-chemicals-us-coronavirus-testing/
Coronavirus: Are there two strains and is one more deadly? Two strains of the new coronavirus are spreading around the world, according to an analysis of 103 cases. But the World Health Organization insists that “there is no evidence that the virus has been changing”. So how many strains are there, and why does it matter? Viruses are always mutating, especially RNA viruses like this one, coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. When a person is infected with the coronavirus, it replicates in their respiratory tract. Every time it does, around half a dozen genetic mutations occur, says Ian Jones at the University of Reading, UK. https://www.newscientist.com/articl...are-there-two-strains-and-is-one-more-deadly/
@bigtexxx how do you feel about these commentators on the right downplaying the risk and politicizing the virus? https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/11/us/politics/coronavirus-conservative-media.html?action=click&module=Top Stories&pgtype=Homepage
I believe an NBA GM more than I believe the WHO. According to them until yesterday it wasnt a pandemic either.
How do you know that the two strains mean that people can get infected twice? Do you have a source on that?
Yes it was in the study. Has been observed in many patients in both Japan and China who after being dicharged were reinfected. If you google it you will see.
