Hornets are a bad defensive team. Tucker + House + Mclemore = 8 points Is this a nba record? Where is the plan B to plan Z?
Tucker is awful. He can’t even hit a open layup. House is trash Mclemor was on the scrap heap for a reason
Yeah, but they didn't take that many shots either. You cant play 4 on 5 or 3 on 5; that's essentially what happened in most possessions. I will say this though, out of the three, House is on the verge not playable.
they're scared to shoot. too many times they are hesitating when they have an open shot. tucker doesn't even try to attempt layups at the rim or under the basket anymore. because he knows he sucks at them.
Clearly, we need to shake up our starting 5. We were down 20-zip right off the bat, and were playing catch-up the rest of the game. Green and Carroll started the 2nd half, and I think we might had won this had they started the 1st. Of course, Westbrook keeps getting a pass for missing these games, while Harden gets dumped on. How long does it take for Russ to "recover" from his surgery? Harden could use a game off during a back to back. Why not him, as well? Why not neither one? What a concept.
Give me a team with some structure, maybe a gameplan. At this point, I'd take Bullard's "Keys to the Game". "Let 'em run" and make reads and rely on effort isn't professional basketball. It's pick-up. It's cool when you're dominating because your players are just that dominant, but if they're sucking then yeah someone's gotta set them on the right path - give them something to focus on. Aside from missing CP3 in that 2018 season, the biggest intangible missing is the emphasis on vocal communication on D.
Still too many unplayable players on this Rockets roster. When Tucker is cold, Thabo is not playable either because he is an offensive void. Tyson is only good for speeches and towel waving. Harty and Clemons can only contribute in GLeague, wasted roster spaces.
One of House or PJ has to be benched. I say House. Start Green and let PJ move back to PF. I hate that PJ can’t do anything but shoot corner 3s (sometimes). We gotta have players in that can create for themselves a little bit. PJ and House only attempting around 8 shots between them a game is ridiculous. That’s the REAL issue going on right now. It’s not just James’ fault, others need to do something out there.
House and McLemore don't offer anything on the defensive end. But with McLemore at least he's a decent shooter most of the time. House on the other hand is just truly awful in departments most of the time. Tucker has definitely struggled this season, but he's still putting in the effort on the defensive end. Most our guys don't really offer much. Only Harden, Westbrook and Covington offer us anything most games. But you can't win a championship if only 3 guys are performing most games.
Based on the last 3 games.... lots of blame to go around. Gordon for example is a shell of his former self. Harden started deciding passing doesn't require looking first. House is a non-factor. Tucker is now Tuck Hayes. McLemore has disappeared. Carroll is still finding his way. Green has been a minor bright spot, and Covington has stayed relatively solid minus the offense in the Clippers game, which was a team trainwreck.
House is a 10th man in your rotation. He's that two-way forward that lights up the G-league and the fans yell at the coach to play him, but when you do you get what you've got. I definitely think it's time to promote some guys over him. In hockey or baseball you call them tweeners. Not tweeners in size, but between AAA and big-league ball.
Yup and in PJs case thankfully he is now fully aware that of the 8-10 layups he’s attempted this year he’s looked like an 80year old invalid shooting that shot and it finally sunk in ... how can you be an NBA starting forward and not be able to make an uncontested layup ????
I don't think it's really Tucker's fault. He shouldn't even be playing in the power forward position. But he's been forced to play the center and power forward role for a while. He's never going to be able to bully other power forwards or centers to get points in the paint. The majority of his points are going to be coming from the corner 3pt... and his shot has been off all year. And thats where it hurts us. Having a power forward/center who can get 10 to 15 points a game really adds up. Tucker only averages around 7 points a night... which is terrible for a player who averages around 35 minutes a night. This is why we should have bought in like 6ft 10/6ft 11 center. We could have stuck Tucker in the small forward position and limited his minutes between the other guys like Carroll, House and Gordon. Having a good defensive center, who can shoot little, especially with Covington as your power forward, would be hard for the other team to score in the paint.
