what mistakes though? the only thing I can think of is that you want to be aggressive in FA with a qb on a rookie contract, and Gaine didn't do anything
Brian t. Smith of the chronicle tweeted that “this move has been brewing for a while”.... first things that come to mind are the handling of Clowney’s contract situation, lack of aggressiveness during FA, possible “overdraft” of our first round pick, not moving up to get Dillard and letting the eagles jump us. Now with Trent Williams possibly on the block in Washington I wonder if there has been a push to make a deal that gaine was just not willing to do... hopefully they bring in a guy with a track record of evaluating talent and building solid football teams.... those are hard to come by these days however..
That makes no sense...Gaine was in part chosen by O'Brien. There has to be something else going on. I hope he didnt get caught up in some sexual harrassment or other foolishness.
What a dysfunctional franchise, this is getting embarrassing. It makes no sense to fire your GM after just one (playoff) year, and AFTER the draft. Stupid. O'Brien is swinging a big stick and I don't know how or why he gets away with it considering he is a moronic head coach.
As abrupt as it happened, you can be SURE something else news-wise is coming soon. Could be anything, but whatever it is, it ain't good.
Joe Douglas was a very sought after candidate during the Texans last GM search and the eagles denied Texans request to interview.... possible candidate target. I believe the jets are gunning for him as well to replace mccagnan(another former Houston front office guy)
If it was anything like sexual assault or a morally corrupt mistake I doubt cal McNair would have came out and said Brian Gaine is “ a Man of high character” upon firing him
