And that was a good take, Deuce. That he's even better than you/the rest of us thought is icing on the cake. I'm hoping he ends up staying in Houston instead of the Valley, and I like your idea of locking him up with some of the MLE. Finds like this are rare. Why not take full advantage? We need guys like him on the bench in Houston and on the road. Let him learn there, in my opinion. It's a reach, but he might end up being the 9th guy off the bench during the second half. He's got me a little excited with his play. Looks like a natural. And yes, it's preseason, but this is one of the reasons we have a preseason, to see just what we have.
I think Clark has a more developed posterior chain than Ariza. Ariza is very light in the shorts and not very fluid of an athlete.
Is there any specific Clark only highlight video from last night? Not a college highlight video.. haven't watched enough preseason and have no feel for the guy's game Thanks
I've seen the PJ comparison but PJ plays like a wrecking ball out there. Seems to me like Clark is more Patterson or even Ariza, not skill set but just that solid demeanor. Make no mistakes, stays in their lane, doesn't hurt your team in any way out there and let's your stars shine. I haven't seen anything that would suggest he's a lock down defender and nothing from college that would suggest a knock down shooter(that can be improved), but also he hasn't taken a bad shot in these few games or missed a rotation. Just solid.
I'm all aboard the Gary Clark train but those of you saying "I hope he isn't included in a deal for Butler" are nuts! If we can't work out a deal for Butler I"ll be thrilled to have this kid contributing off the bench for as long as he's a Rocket. But if he increases his trade value and becomes an important piece in bringing a top 10-15 player like Jimmy Butler here so we have an even better chance at beating the Warriors this year? Yes, please.
If he bangs in three pointers like he has been, he will be in the league for a long, long time. His defense has been and always will be excellent because he is highly intelligent and highly vocal.
Nothing wrong with hoping he sticks around. Of course you deal him If you need to, but I like Rocket fans that love their rookies. That's how it used to be when you were picked up in the big leagues. Nowadays everyone wants to trade all their rookies like it is NBA 2k. Homegrown talent is always the most special to see succeed. Remember how you felt like a Father when Carl Landry got his tooth knocked out, and proceeded to **** on the Jazz? Or when Boki buttraped Karl Malone? Special moments as a fan. Franchise and Yao getting that W against the Lakers in the playoffs? On and on...
agree 100 % but i like better 4 years of gary clark at 3 mil per than half a year of jimmy butler at 25 milion edit : then again maybe not .. dont know what to think
I was thinking that in this clip he was so open on most of the shots he was taking extra time to line them up. Will be interested observing him against NBA caliber defenders
Getting one of those degrees wouldn't be a stroll in the park, so he must be an intelligent guy. Not your typical major for a college athlete playing in a pretty good program. Hey, I kept thinking there was another Gary Clark I had heard of, a musician, and not the Gary Clark, Jr. of Austin (who's a nice guitarist, btw). Looked him up and he's a Scottish musician and song writer, in his 50's now, who had a hit with his short lived group, Danny Wilson, called Mary's Prayer. It's in the flick, There's Something About Mary. Doesn't play basketball, though. Spoiler
