I would like to see this just to get him humbled immediately. Fall in line d******d. You gotta work for minutes here.
So you’re saying all Chriss needs is for the Rockets to cut him, his next NBA team to cut him, then go to China, then come back to the NBA, then succeed for 2 years before getting a bloated contract, for him to be good? Well then the Rockets need him in 2023, not 2018.
I’m scared to death that’s hes a rich man’s Terrence Jones, but still not a consistently good player.
The kid is talented. His low Bball IQ most likely stems from starting organized hoops in high school. He appears to be a smart but immature individual and for being 21 that would seem par for the course. I don't see any good reason to give up on him or have little hope for his continued development. He has a great opportunity in front of him. Chriss will be surrounded by championship caliber gym rats and the best playmakers he could ever dream of playing with.
In more optimistic on him Isn't that Qi, we have so many future PFs now, feeling good , could be better if they can play now
I think Qi needs to put on some more muscle first. For now, I'll say Qi is the future backup PF/C for the Rockets. But it would be nice if they could start now as you stated.
Well we also know the Suns are a pretty bad organization and aside from Booker, no player has come to Phoenix in a loooonnnnggg time who developed into a better player while there. Plain and simple they have a very poor track record at player development. Again, this isn't to say Criss will be significantly better with us, but just because the Suns gave up on him doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad gamble. If Morey can showcase him playing defense and getting easy lobs for a few months, he could easily add to his perceived value in the league and flip him as an asset to facilitate that upgrade at the SF we are looking for.
so from the video he looks like another capela. some shot blocking and rim protection. does he have a jumper?
All Chriss has to do is catch lobs, rebound, run the floor and block shots. I don't know how smart you have to be to do that. the offense isn't tough, there isn't much thinking involved. I always wonder what TJ would look like in a MDA system. I would disagree Best case scenario is Clint Capela with the ability to shoot threes. He can shoot, but I don't know how consistent it is.
This MqC is essentially a zero risk flyer as expiring RFA in exchange for nothing Melton is cost for turning Ryno's $20M into BK's $15M instead of future 1st IMO Chriss has demonstrated 3 clear NBA skills already, albeit inconsistently: - Inside Finisher Athleticism + power + hands to finish consistently above the rim Mostly via lob ... or off dribble occasionally - Chasedown Rim Protector Not true Protector, but great erasing as trailer Could be Horry to CC's Dream as weakside helper supreme - Catch & Shooter Can't create his own shot, but has easy, quick release when set upon receiving pass HOU has track record of improving Vets' 3P% If he only performs to past standard in these 3 areas, he is certainly an upgrade over Tarik as fringe-rotation Big If he he finally blossoms at 21 playing w 2 HoF playmakers ... ? I Morey W T yet again
I think T.Jones might be closer to a best case scenario. Jones may have been maddeningly inconsistent with lapses in basic awareness, but he at least showed the ability to be a productive, somewhat useful player in his first 3 seasons (57% TS, +1.9 BPM, 18.7 PER). Chriss in two seasons has shown very little positive, aside from the occasional highlight dunk/block (52% TS, -1.8 BPM, 11.8 PER). I don't have a ton of hope, but he does have most of the raw tools/skills you'd want in a young big. I just question if he has the maturity/work-ethic to ever be half as good as he can be.
TJones as a Rocket was much better than the rest of his career. Average to above average. Cut him some slack there. Wished he was a smarter player though.
We have quickly shifted from "Run It Back" to dropping Ariza, Moute and Anderson and adding Melo, Ennis, Chriss and Knight to the mix. There is definitely some big gambling going on. There has never been a Rockets player as bad at boxing out as Terrence Jones. He would be a huge negative contribution to a game just by letting his man grab rebounds constantly.
