PG Chris Paul Steve Francis Pat Beverley SG James Harden Eric Gordon Cuttino Mobley SF Tracy McGrady Ron Artest Trevor Ariza PF Luis Scola Shane Battier PJ Tucker C Yao Ming Clint Capela Dikembe Mutombo Tough decisions: Pat over Rafer and Dikembe over Dream, but Dream was cooked by 2000. Does anyone else deserve a run? And could any other team made up of their best players since 2000 beat the best team of players that have put on Rockets red since the turn of the century? This theoretical Rockets team would shut you down AND score 130 on you.
I’ll play, ignore the smart asses @Alvin Choo who just need to turn everything into negative and just be a sheep as they contribute to the dehumanising behaviour by taking on this persona on the web. CP3 / AB / Lowry Harden / Mobley / Gordon Battier / Artest / Mbah a Moute Scola / PJ Tucker / Landry Yao / Capela / Hayes Tough choices: leaving out Francis, Ariza and Mutombo. Francis was just too selfish and we have enough guys who can shoot, I’ll take AB or Mobley at PG / ball handler over him then rather. Ariza was better than Mbah during their times here, but Mbah is more versatile and in limited time showed that he could actually drive and finish much more consistently. Hayes over Mutombo, basically it’s age and how Hayes was so versatile and could stop the athletic / long and big forwards as well as centers. Would be even more valuable today than years past.
Give me: CP3/Lowry/Beverley Harden/Gordon T-Mac/Artest/Ariza Battier/Scola/Tucker Yao/Cooked Dream/Capela Coach: Adelman
PG - Chris Paul/Kyle Lowry/Steve Francis SG - James Harden/Tracy McGrady/Von Effing Wafer SF - Shane Battier/Trevor Ariza/Ron Artest PF - Juwan Howard/Luis Scola/Chuck Hayes C - Yao Ming/DwightMare/WhoWantstoSexMutumbo Beat that!
C- Yao/Dwight/Capela PF- Scola*, PJ Tucker, Chuck Hayes SF- Artest, Ariza, Battier SG- Harden, McGrady, Gordon PG- Paul, Lowry, Francis * Crazy how weak we've been at PF. It seemed like that was a turnstile position during the Yao years. I'm salivating at the defensive and playmaking potential here though. Being able to throw three good wing defenders (who all play defense very differently) plus having that rim protection and CP3/Lowry covrering the PG is great. There's so much verstality with lineups too. Imagine Yao surronded by one of the SFs at the 4, T-Mac at the 3, and Harden and Paul. You have three excellent playmakers/drivers, a center who can dominate downlow AND has some mid-range. Battier or Artest won't be covered ever. Hell, they may not even need to shoot.
We should get @tinman involved in this thread ... (P.S.) I think Dmo should get a callout at PF.... Go Rockets!!! ....... ....... .......
CP3 / Francis / Bev Harden / Gordon TMac / Ariza / Artest / Battier Melo / PJ Tucker / Scola Yao / Capela / Dwight Coach: Dumbtoni
I can see why people would put him in but I'd prefer to act like he never played for the Rockets at all
PG CP3/Lowry SG Harden/Mobley/Gordon SF T-Mac/Battier/Ariza PF Scola/Tucker C Yao/Capela Cuttino Mobley would have been a perfect supporting scorer in a better situation. Playing next to Francis on those no ball movement early 00's teams just brought out the worst in him. If Mobley concentrated on shooting, slashing and defending he would have been amazing. Likewise as we all know Dwight would have been awesome if he stuck to his strengths, but I think he was too stubborn to ever do that, regardless of situation. Francis was never gonna be anything more than a great offensive 6th man on a contending team. You weren't gonna build a winner that featured him heavily.
I wanna see an all time scrub list of the millennium after this one. Anyways here's my list: PG: Cp3/Lowry/Francis SG: Harden/Gordon/Mobley SF: Artest/Tmac/Ariza PF: Tucker/Scola/Landry C: Yao/Capela/Mutombo
You migtht be too old. Time to pick up some new reading glasses. It says rockets team of the millenium
