Why do people keep saying there’s no downside just because he’s on vet minimum? There is a downside. The downside is he makes the team and we need him to play and he sucks.
Yup. Said this in another thread. For those that are saying this, were they the same ones b****ing about Bobby brown on minimum. Or even Joe Johnson on minimum It's like it's ok to suck if you're on a minimum contract. Puzzling logic This acquisition probably looks worse than it really is bc the team currently has holes in the lineup to fill so we'll see what happens eventually
I voted yes, but I'm really more indifferent. It's a no risk medium reward type move. If he sucks, so what? If he contributes like an Andre Roberson or Shaun Livingston, great.
Not sure if MCW signing is significant to form an opinion ,the problem lays down when expectation is big but this's what we got
It is a meh move. He is the 4th guard. Basically Williams plays the role of: Briante Weber, Bobby Brown, Markel Brown, Tim Quarterman, Aaron Jackson. What did those guys do for the team? The played garbage minutes in blowouts. Or were called upon in extreme cases of injury. (e.g. when Paul and Gordon were both injured at the same time). But, like others, I would rather push DeAnthony Melton to see what he can do more than MCW. But I understand the team wanting a 4th VET at the PG spot.
He is 6'6" and a plus defensive player. He will definitely fit in the switching defensive scheme. He can pass and shoot around the hoop. So he has everything but the three point shot.
I can't believe all the chicken littles hating on MCW. Dudes THE rookie of the year and is a solid defender. Sure he's bounced around a couple teams.. It's obvious he's not being used properly. I love that he's betting on himself with a min contract it's also a plus that he's a sexy little hot dude. MCW is gonna fit right in and surprise everyone like GG.
He’s bad at shooting. Hopefully they think he is going to bring hustle and defense off the bench. He had a TS% of 48, for 2nd worse in the NBA, one ahead of Josh smith. If he’s going to contribute it won’t be through scoring. For vet min their is no downside, so who cares, he is expendable if it doesn’t work.
Dud signing, can't shoot. Why would you sign anyone who can't shoot? Like we need someone else to help us miss 27 straight threes?
For a veteran min, of course. You can't really lose here. Most of those guys seldom make it into the rotation. He will allow Paul to take off more games.
