First of all I love Clint & think he’s going to be a fine player, but in our current situation I was thinking about a trade scenario to capitalize on the current window of opportunity with Harden & Paul. Also, I’m not a salary cap guru, so don’t know what the financial details would be, but the players are the important part here (always seems to be a way to make the #s work). So the deal is a sign & trade with Capela along with Ryan Anderson (and whatever fillers) to the Clippers for DeAndre Jordan and other non-guaranteed salary for this year (to make the #s work). Clippers would do it to lock up a young up and coming big man long term (and move a disgruntled one). Jordan has repeatedly expressed his desire to play for the Rockets and I think he’d take a discount to play here at this point in his career. And I don’t think we lose much at the position other than he’s a little older (but in line with Harden & Paul). Then if you can convince LBJ or PG13 to come you have a package centered around Gordon & picks to try and make that happen. Paul Harden LBJ/PG13 Tucker Jordan I’m sure I’ll get blasted, but just a thought.
Turn on trade override in NBA 2K and have at it. Meanwhile, the Rockets will see what they can get with their taxpayer MLE to improve the team.
DeAndre Jordan is not going to tip the scales for us against the Warriors or a LeBron/PG Laker team. If you're thinking that Jerry West would do us a solid by taking on Ryno to get Capela, I hope he's generous enough to send us Beverley and Lou Williams in addition to DeAndre.
I don't think we will, but the fact that DeAndre still didn't opt in makes me think he might be waiting for a potential call by Chris.
I hope this plays out as a sequel to the last time Chris Paul put DeAndre on lock down and hilarity ensued.
I think Capela has to go to Cavs for us to get Lebron. It is our only asset worth the Cavs time. Capella, Gordan, 2 future 1st if Lebron wants Houston. Cavs could trade Gordan for a pick. We may have to sign Capella first to make the numbers work and I don't know if that works under the CBA.
I’d take DJ over Capela any day. Even though DJ may not be able to run the court as fast as Capela could, I think it could easily be adjusted.
In the same breath, Capela is younger so we can keep our core longer and is infinitely more experienced with Harden. He is also a harder worker and way smarter player.
If DAJ opts out and you can pick him up for the MLE, it is a viable strategy. Can you get Butler or Capela? DAJ + Butler > Capela
