I read an article a earlier that said Melo is pissed because the Knicks front office is holding up the deal. The article insinuated that everyone is waiting on the Knicks, and only the Knicks. I think it was a lot closer than most people realize.
Ya'll keep talking about this as if it were completely in the past tense. I don't think they've hit the RESET button. PAUSE, as it is says in the title of the thread, yes.
I don't know, man. It seems blasphemous to associate the words "waiting on the Knicks" with "close." Remember, these are the people who came up with "Please don't leave us, Melo. We love you so much that we want you to give us more leverage for a better divorce settlement."
Think the trade is locked and loaded. The pause is just the Knicks last ditch efforts to convince Melo to stay or to gain some leverage with the new GM which will ultimately fail. Just need to pull the trigger. Melo is a Rocket by the end of the week.
They're never going to start rebuilding until they get rid of their disgruntled star. That's the last thing you want in your locker room. Melo wants Houston. Houston wants Melo. Everyone wants to make a deal, and it's only a matter of time before Melo is traded. The Knicks aren't doing themselves any favors by keeping him in a situation he doesn't want to be in. That's toxic.
I believe that it will happen sometime between now and the trade deadline. If I had to make a prediction i'd say sometime during august or early september. they really aren't in any hurry until training camp is around the corner. I hope that you are right and it is next week though.
IMO a deal has basically been agreed to, but the Knicks don't really like it so they're making a last ditch effort to try and repair the relationship with Melo or get him to expand his list of teams. Once Melo tells them to "fck off" they'll work out the minor details involved in the trade and finalize it. this could just be my wishful thinking tho
My thinking exactly, except everyone, including the Knicks, knowing what they want and it being only a matter of time. The Knicks not doing themselves any favors is par for course, which puts the end result very much in doubt.
Morey needs to hire me. NY gets Dieng, Aldrich, Quarterman, and Long. Houston gets Carmelo Minnesota gets Ryan Anderson and Tarik Black (SNT) NY gets rid of Carmelo, gets Dieng and some cap space in the form of NGs. Houston gets their guy in Carmelo without giving up Gordon or Capela. Minn gets rid of Aldrichs contract and get Anderson and Black for FC depth. Everybody wins
Again. I don't think it's that simple. I think that's why people feel it was so close when in reality it could still be far apart depending on which way you look at it. If we had a first rounder, or were including Capela for example, I think it would have been a done deal. I think they hit the pause because of the crappy return. I know you read otherwise, and you could be right. No one actually knows. If I was the GM of the Knicks, I wouldn't care what Melo says, I wouldn't trade him if I was getting back any toxic contract that still had 3 years remaining.
