Honestly I never looked it up myself and that's where I went wrong. I was going off of what others said. I still don't know how much above 12 mil a year the Rockets would want to match, but I was basing it off of an apparently mistaken belief that it would put them over the luxury.
Charlotte made it easy for the Cav's when Varajao held-out until Dec 5th. Signed him to a 3/17 mid-level exception offer sheet. Cavs matched.
Others in this thread, or other websites? I'm now really curious if the $13m guess at RealGM started with Spotrac making it look like that is a magic number for us to cover over the tax-line...and ppl knowing Les' reputation for hating to go into tax territory.
I think I've heard that same number thrown around on twitter, here, and at Nets sites. It's very likely that it came from Spotrac though, or at least it would make sense for that to have been the start of it. Not everyone is going to think to subtract the DMo cap hold and that's how bad information gets spread around.
Yeah I think the guy is legit based on the high profile people who follow him. As to guarantees, it hasn't been reported yet, but it would have to be more than one year.
Depending on the other things in the deal like guarantees and other potential nonsense, I'd match that deal in a heartbeat.
I gotta say if it's only two years guaranteed then it's a no brainier match. If it's 3+ then I guess it depends on how we feel about his health . I'm sure we have a chance to conduct a physical before/ after we match and the deal becomes final
Kinda called it, 4 years but pretty low deal per year, obviously curious to see if there are options/non guaranteed years at this point.
Match it. That's nothing in this cap environment. Perfectly solid trade chip even if he continues to have a strained relationship with the org.
