FDIC be damned. You'll be looking at a lot of bank accounts just to insure your remaining cash. Since they are only insured up to $250,000 for single ownership account per bank.
The simplicity of turning in your ticket, let alone investing and getting advice, seems overwhelming. You shouldn't talk to anyone, yet you have no f'ing clue what to do with your ticket. Let's say you don't get a lawyer, and you walk that ticket over to the lottery office, what protection should u take after signing the ticket...I mean I don't even know when I should let go of that ticket and to whom. There is a lot's of talk about what to do if you get a lawyer, but not a lot of talk about what the heck to do just to get from your home to the lotto office and back home... which as stupid as it sounds, no doubt is also filled with uncertainty and concern and lack of information for almost any potential winner. Should you video yourself with the ticket? What happens once you walk insider the doors to the lottery office? How to do you assure that money gets deposited into a secure account safely. Curious about how it all happens, and if the lotto group at least sit you down and advise you on the process. Seems like yes, you need lawyer and financial advice, But most people won't have one upon winning. And so you almost need an advisor on how to get the best advisors. But who do you trust, and they say don't trust anyone lol. I reckon it's like death. You just have to go into the unknown, put your trust in someone, and hope for the best.
Here is a good post on reddit on what you should do when you win the lottery: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/..._a_656_million_dollar_lottery_what_do/chba4bf
Buy Tbills. That is why some of them have negative interest rates because investors are willing to pay money for safety.
All the advice is great. good read that Reddit. I think the picture is coming together on what to do and not do. Patience seems to be the key. Hard to believe they still hand u a check. And away you go. I haven't written a check in almost 10 years. I reckon that's good protection though as the bank will certainly not deposit without some due diligence.

damn sounds so stressful winning so much money. if i win (lol), could I just sell my ticket for like $100M to some billionaire, and get it transferred into an offshore bank account or something? legal and illegal options will be considered...
Geeze. 1.5 Billion dollars lol. That is unbelievable. I wonder what other countries think of us have a lottery like this. This is so much money you wouldn't know what to do with it. I would have to hire 40 body guards if I won
Why is everyone saying tonight? When is the draw? I have $20 to spend before I go onto a ramen noodles diet
