That's short sighted. Clowney is 2 years younger than Mack AND coming off microfracture surgery and he already commands more double teams than Mack does. 2 years from now when he's Mack's age we'll look back on comments like this and laugh.
No surprise a certain poster responded WITHIN MINUTES of a Mack sighting Can't lie though, age is definitely in Clowney's favor.
And yet you responded to me more quickly..... It's no doubt that I often respond to shut down short sighted or poor comments and when it comes to the Texans, comments involving Mack or Bilgewater are pretty much the most short sighted or poor more often than not.
It's called timing. Hit refresh and saw new comments. My history isn't quick responses to any Clowney/Mack/Teddy talk. I didn't particular care for any players because I don't follow college. I just hope the Texans do well. After a very bad start, Clowney is turning things around. Good to see
Mack would be a good player to add to the current Texans roster, you already have Watt and Clowney both commanding double teams so any 3rd pass rusher would have single coverage, and that's where Mack thrives.
Isn't Mack very good in coverage? Remember pre-draft commentary saying he was so versatile. Regardless, 15 sacks in 14 games, alone, is better than "good". Nice underestimation.... Meanwhile, while Clowney gets injured THREE different times within his first FIVE WEEKS of pro games (weak ass preseason included), you claim it's COMPLETELY LUDACRIOUS to suggest dude might, perhaps, maybe, kinda seems injury prone. Laughable. At least you were consistent in underestimating for your argument's sake. And no true Texans fan should WANT Clowney to fail!! ClutchFans is entertaining ....
Yeah he's pretty good in coverage for a linebacker, and the 15 sacks is awesome but 5 came in just one game which skews it a bit and you have to understand that even with that monster 5 sack game, he still doesn't command the respect from defenses that guys like Watt or Clowney do. I'm not sure I've ever seen Mack command a double team. The guy does some really nice things, but he's not a guy that teams game plan against.
Every true Texans fan should want Clowney to be better than Mack. It's not about being right, it's about wins. Derek Carr is just another example of Houston's bad luck. I mean, you can't fault the team for not picking him after his brother happened. That situation might as well be the Luv Ya Blue TD reception against PIT. Same thing happens now, replay fixes in 2 minutes. Just bad luck. I really hope Clowney and all the city's players do well.
I fault them for not picking up Carr, the best QB in the class was sitting there for the taking at the top of the 2nd round and they didn't get him. Pretty rough. Anyway, it's premature to say for sure which player is "better" between Clowney and Mack, but when Mack was Clowney's age, he was in college yet Clowney is already more feared and game planned against in the NFL.....pretty solid odds that we look back on this and laugh at the idea of Mack over Clowney much like we laugh at those who wanted Aldon Smith over JJ Watt
If Mack is Von Miller, would that make Clowney like the player the Texans took in the same draft as Von?
That's probably a fair comparison stylistically , though I doubt Mack ever lives up to Von Miller and there's very little chance Clowney or anyone live up to JJ Watt.
