There are only two players picked ahead of Jones who i feel may have a chance at defending him. Tyler Zeller and Royce White.

No. Not effectively. He is going to push Davis around in the post. He is a full 30 lbs heavier.

Comparisons that come to mind for me are:

    Antonio McDyess
    Orlando Woolridge (rip)
    Xavier McDaniel

he needs to get off to a really good start

now i just hope he follows this up consistently

he's the rookie that needs to really breakout, because he's deferred to other guys all his life thus inhibiting him from reaching his potential

He has not deferred to other guys his whole life. His Freshman year of college he basically played point forward and took his team to the final four..After that season he was projected a top 5 pick. Last year he played mainly with extremely talented freshman and still averaged 18 ppg.. steal in this draft could be very accurate.. this guy plays hard and has a lot of talent..huge upside. Reminds me a lot of Josh Smith but without the freakish leaping ability.

He is built like D12 and if you think Jones has the same skills set as Davis, you are truly a homer. No knock on Jones BTW. Davis defensive skills protecting the rim are off the chart for a rookie and potential to become a franchise changer!
Why do you think he selected to Team America by Olympic coaches??

I really didn't like the Terrence Jones pick on draft night. I thought he was undersized, and a typical tweener. He won me over in summer league. Seeing him in person made me realize how solid this kid is built, and he has legit size and athleticism.

Thank you, Chase Budinger and Lior Eliyahu!

I'm sorry but he's nothing like those three, except that he resembles Xavier's looks. I can only think of Rodney Rogers who was also a lefty, could play above the rim, was a PF but could also play SF, and had a similar touch.

Not sure who you are thinking of, but when a see a big for the Rockets hit a buzzer beating three pointer, I immediately think of Robert Horry. Also, I love how smooth and effortlessly Jones shoots the ball. His shot is smooth and consistent even on a miss... definitely a sign of a good shooter.

Yeah, that's not who i'd compare him too. Jones has a lot more buzzer beaters to hit before he's even close to Horry's level in that area. I dont expect Jones to start making buzzer beaters like that. His release is slower than Horry's, less length, and he may even jump less than Horry. And then there's accuracy, which Horry also wins.

6'10 Carl Landry with a bit more handle and a better shot.

Jones ability to put the ball on the floor for someone his size is pretty impressive. I can't think of many legit 4's that can do what he does. If can be as consistent as Landry, I think he could be a borderline all-star.
