“If you hire good coaches that can recruit, there’s no way you should drop off like that,” said Drexler, now a commentator for Houston Rockets home games.

well he did throw in a sardonic "heh-heh-heh" afterwards but the copy editor took it out of the article.

Wow. It's a good thing Clyde was good at basketball because it doesn't seem like he is a very bright individual. Like he's missing a screw or something.

Cougars should just keep hiring young guys, looking for the right oppurtunity to blossom. I know they tried it before Penders but in all honesty, I rather keep trying and hope to land the next Brad Stevens rather then retreads like Penders and Dickey.

I don't get the jabs y'all are taking at Clyde. What he said was spot on. Not his fault they hired him.

Bob Marlin would have been the perfect hire for UH last year. Still scratching my head over him picking Louisiana-Lafayette.

Considering his season there and what he left behind at Sam, it really makes me scratch my head as to why he left the state. He's no more likely to receive an at-large bid at LA-La than he is at Sam...which is not at all. He could have had another 20+ win season at Sam with Gilberto Clavell, et al, and just as good a shot at winning the Southland, again...and not having to live in the s***hole known as Lafayette, LA.

Correct me if I'm wrong about Clyde's short stint...didn't he have what was regarded as one of the better recruiting classes in the nation?

One other reason they didn't list is that U of H is right by the ghetto.
