Perhaps, but any extra "value" gained in the swap is not dramatic. Rockets got from Portland the rights to some future and past 2nd round picks. Not a bad asset haul but not exactly assets that have a high likelihood of turning into contributors or being very valuable in a subsequent trade. Patterson, on the other hand, landed Sacramento Rudy Gay. Just kidding. He probably would be worth a decent 2nd round pick like Marcus Morris was. In any case, yes, Morey landed some extra small assets. So, as far as asset management goes, it was a good move. Thomas Robinson still sucks, but his perceived value was leveraged well by Morey. Perhaps more important, by trading Patterson in February rather than in July, Patterson can now be re-acquired by the Rockets.

So, thoughts on Thomas Robinson's performance today? Morey did well finding a taker for him and getting a few minor assets in return.
I wouldn't call Papanikolaou a minor asset. No one should be surprised if he joins us next year and shores up our joke of a bench.
