Rockets will be making a grave mistake to give up their future for a 34 year old star without a history of winning in the NBA. We already have no 2018 first round pick and need to keep our 2020 pick. No issue with getting Melo on the cheap, but we will regret having no first round picks moving forward if we give them up for players in their mid-30s.
@dwhite back at it again giving @Htowngenius anf @RocketsTruth a run for their money (There's many threads where this kind of thing is already being discussed)
Lotto protected 1st are currency for the league and protects the franchise from a disastrous season followed by no draft pick.
stupid thread. not much to regret on extremely late first round draft picks that are of no help to a team in win now mode. still plenty of dumb wannabe gm's out there
I'm ok with drafting second round picks. That's pretty much what our 1st rounders look like for the next 3 years.
oh please, gimme a break with this nonsense smh, giving up a 2020 1st for Melo isn't "giving up the future"
Not saying you are wrong... but I think I could live without: Jeremy Lamb or Royce White (Be well) or T Jones or Sam Dekker (meh) Clint Capela would be a loss tho Morey does much better in 2nd round IMHO
Our best picks have been second rounders that everyone passed up on. And we're never going to be bad enough to get a top 3, top 5 talent.
Give up a #28+ pick for a future Hall of Famer who has proven he can be a difference maker when he's not asked to do everything for his team? Especially when we're going all in on winning a title in the next 2-3 years? Uh, yeah, do it. You'd be stupid not to.
I'm ok with giving up a lottery pick, but not multiple ones for Carmelo. I'm not in favor of giving up too much for him. CP3 came at a big price, I don't want to see a repeat of that.
Considering CP3 came with Mbah and Tucker, I honestly can't see how anyone can argue he came at a big price. Bev -> CP3 = Upgrade Dekker -> Moute = Upgrade Trez -> Tucker = Upgrade Lou -> No one = Downgrade We came out way ahead with the CP3 trade, at least on paper.
I can't imagine Morey giving up first for Melo. That's gotta be why NYK are holding this up. Praying we'll cave eventually. And I agree, we'll need that pick, and much more, next year for any potential big upgrades, e.g. Lebronamo.
