Dalembert should start. He's a better defender and rebounder than Jordan Hill and more consistent. They say he's out of shape but I haven't seen him out of shape, he hustles whenever it counts for every rebound and block. Can't say that for Jordan Hill. i also tried to embed Dalembert's free throw line dunk from youtube <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/i639wJl91Wc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Dalembert probably should start, but I would rather keep starting Hill to increase his confidence and develop his game. He is averaging like 14 rebounds per 36 through 4 games.
From what I have seen, Hill is really giving his best. As knote said, why discourage him now when he is working hard.
I doubt it's about being out of shape so much as not being familiar with the system and other players. It's normal for players going to a new team to start off on the bench despite being superior to the starter. Once Dalembert gets acclimated to the team he'll probably start. He certainly fits in better with Scola/Martin to cover up their defense.
I agree. I think he will as soon as he is caught up with other guys on the team. He missed the entire training camp. Sammy starting and Hill backing him up is going to help.
No. Hill needs all the confidence he can get. Dalembert will perform whether he's on the bench or starting.
I'm not sure he's ready for that yet. He seems like he gets winded quickly thus far. Also, I don't know how comfortable the Rockets would be if J-Hill is the last line of defense when/if Sam picks up quick fouls. I'd much rather have Sam coming into stabilize the floor if Jordan isn't playing strong. We really need a guy like Okafor on the team.
Dalembert should probably work himself into the starting lineup, but he did miss the abbreviated camp and preseason, while Hill has established chemistry from last year..
