If no better option presents itself you have to consider it. Like I said, EG type contract. Very movable if need be. I highly doubt he opted out to sign for below market value just to win, so its all likely a moot point.
Iggy is wanting $20m per year. If Gay would take 3/45m, we should jump all over that. That STILL leaves us with cap room to sign (or trade for) a 2nd option.
I would Pick Rudy Gay up as a FA. If we do end up landing two stars that means we probably traded Anderson, Ariza and maybe even Beverly and E.G. So will need depth and maybe he will sign cheap for a chance at a ring
only at the end of the summer on a Nene type deal. He's looking for big money like Wesley Matthews got after his injury, but seeing how Matthews recovered teams might be more tepid on committing long term. If that's the case and he wants a year to rebuild value on a team where you can get great stats, there's a vet min deal with his name on it.
Exactly, the Rockets have no reason to pursue even further bench depth. The current #Pursuit is to get as many superstar/stars to make a #RunAsOne at the WCF again.
He is not a good defender, he's an average scorer, a below average team player, an oversized sense of his value, and coming off major surgery at the age of 30. If we sign him to anything more than 8-10 a year, we are idiots. Ryan Anderson is a much better role player and Gay is not a star player, not even close.
Itll be glorious. I can see it now. THREAD TITLE: Is acquiring gay a scenario that has the potential to become a reality?
