You dont get it, Bogut is old and has a history of being injury prone. Thats why GSW managed to get him in the first place. He played well on GSW but they had the luxury of having 4 all stars, Bogut didnt really have to do much except defend and reb. He doesnt even have to move from the center of the paint because they have Green who does all the dirty work. Rox aren't like that they need their big men to contribute by setting up PNRs and be active all over the court. And instesd of green we have Anderson who also stays out of the paint. Bogut will just slow the offense down like when we had Dwight, he's too old to do Pnrs. Cavs and Sas want him but they are already set at C, he's just insurance. Its different from your expectation that Bogut would come and suddenly fix the rebounding and defense problem that the Rox have. Sanders is the one that can go 1-on-2 in the court. If its just Bogut, rather get another player and not alienate Harrell.
Korver has been avg. over 3 a game since he got there with LeBron playing heavy minutes due to Love's absence.
People were dumb in the 90s, computers weren't advanced we didn't track data so there was no way for people to know mid range shots were bad. Since nobody knew any better, you have superstars winning rings even if they took a lot of mid range shots so thats not a good argument. Thats like saying in the 30's or whenever cars were invented don't use cars because the fastest messengers used horses. 3s and paint aren't a trend, they're literally the correct way to play basketball. If you look at history thats why the best teams in 80's/90's were always big men dominated, the big men scored in the paint which was superior to wings and guards shooting mid range shots. Even the MJ Bulls know this, MJ and Pippen also drove it in instead of settling for mid range and they had guys like Kukoc, Paxson and Kerr who were snipers at the 3. Rox are just taking it to the next step and eliminating mid range shots.
Not surprised at all, Lebron is open minded and driven to succeed, he probably has analytics experts telling him which plays are the best to make. Korver trade was likely done upon seeing how successful Rox were this season. Then again he knows the importance of 3s, he has worked relentlessly on improving his 3 shot since he was a rookie and during his run in Miami Ray Allen contributed a lot to the rings they got.
Rudy T showed this was the way to win Hakeem - Inside Out Offense. . . . Even the Francis teams were more successful than they probably should have been using- the Drive and Dish Rocket River
If I along with Morey and Les alexander "don't "get it" then feel free to explain why they are pursuing Bogut
Either Nene had a brain far or he needs to brush off Morey's memo -- it is either a dunk/layup or a 3 pointer. Lol. Actually, that was pathetically funny only because we were up quite a bit during the game. Had we been down when it happened, guys would be asking for Nene's head. Talking about the Brazilian devil, Nene is playing better and better as the season goes by.
So back to the top of the thread and the shot chart. . . Here's a deeper dive into the stats. Against the Timberwolves, the Rockets had 32 assists on their 44 makes AND 10 additional secondary assists. Sometimes called hockey assists, the assister must make a pass within 2 seconds and 1 dribble. That's sharing the ball. I suppose you could get both a primary and secondary assist on the same play, but wow. There is more to this offense than standing behind the 3-point line.
Midrange will always have a place in the game. It is literally where superstar wings make a name for themselves, especially to win when the game is on the line (unless a three is needed of course). During clutch moments, teams will usually clog the paint and defend the perimeter, leaving one maybe two players to keep the opposing star in check. That's when you step up and hit a jumper from midrange after brilliantly shaking off the D with fadeaway, stepback, pullup, etc. Problem is, that shot is not for everyone, meaning 99% of the players out there. For them, they should be shooting close to the rim or an open three.
Cleveland is second in 3p attempts and 3p makes. If I didn't look at the numbers, I would have guessed GS was second.
