The Rockets didn't want to insult James Anderson by sending him down to D-League. It's unfortunate that he's still scoreless as a Rocket. That 0-3 game may have killed his chances of ever finding a spot in the rotation. After all, wasn't he supposed to be an upgrade from Daequan Cook? The NBA is tough.

I agree 100%. I think it's good that he is getting the playing time at RGV and the Rockets bring him up to get practice time with the Rockets, I'm sure they're talking to him so he understands the situation. Coming out of training camp McHale said he thought TJones was the most NBA ready of the Rookies and he probably still feels that way. I expect TJones to get into the rotation later in the year.

Rockets need a power forward. Yet have 6 power forwards, Patrick Patterson, Marcus Morris, Greg Smith, Donatas Montiejunas, Terrence Jones and Royce White, on the roster.

Pretty pathetic if you ask me that the Rockets have 6 power forwards, most of whom were drafted in the 1st round, and NONE appear to be the team's answer at that spot.

Since Patterson and Morris aren't the answer and won't ever be the answer, the Rockets need to start Terrence Jones for a few games and let him sink or swim, IMO.

    This post exactly.

Why are all of you assuming this is horrible for Jones' psyche? He's probably cool with it. It's 2013 brahs, there's nothing wrong with being sent to the d-league. If the Rockets don't actually treat RGV as their farm team, what was the point of making that acquisition?

I think Jones is okay with everything. Have you heard him lash out on twitter or to the media? He's a mature kid and i'm sure they've bluntly laid out to him what's going on and what he needs to work on. As well as discussed with him how they are going to go about it.

So how about you all chill a bit and let the organization do its thing without getting your panties in a knot.

Why do we need Jones when our power forward position is excellent....

Any truth to the talks I heard about a potential trade sending Terrence Jones to the Idaho Stampede?

It's to evaluate their strengths mentally. Will they break under extreme circumstances, like having to live in the RGV.

Ugh, Terrence Jones is better then both Patterson and Morris and he's the one getting sent to the D-League. I can't wait till we trade one or both of them. PPat and Morris can go.

This is a strange comment. How is a power forward shooting 38% "playing good"? It's odd that anyone can look at anything our rookies have done and say they deserve any time.

    I agree.

That what I liked about Sampson. He didn't care how much a player was being paid or which player was supposed to be a "star." He treated players equally. If you were cold, you sat. If you were hot, you played. Any player can respect that.

Not sure what the big deal is. The rooks get called up so they can practice with the Rockets and sent back down so they can get some playing time when there is a gap in practices for the Rockets.

Sampson did a far better job with Greg Smith and was in the midst of turning Smith into an all-rookie 1st team performer.

In one of his last games against the Lakers on 12/4, Sampson closed the game with Douglas at PG (28 mins) and Smith at C (24 mins) in the 4th quarter because they were playing extremely well. 22 and 21 points.

That would not have happened with McHale who would have automatically removed them from the game early in the 4th and re-inserted a poor performing but higher salaried Lin (2-8 fg), Morris (0-5 fg) or Asik (-19).

TJ is also youngest guy on roster (just turned 21) and only one (except for R White) who hasn't played any post college ball. He needs the experience. I'd rather have him playing than just sitting around.
