or.....they just mean Soros. It's not really a conspiracy theory pointing out his paid protesters because it's something he's known for doing. When you point out that organizations are funded by him, you are merely pointing out that they are funded by him.

The notion that pointing out a specific far left donor is involved is really saying "the Jews" is about the most brain dead take possible......so thanks for that I guess.

I think it's definitely true that some say "Soros" when they mean "the Jews," especially when they say write "(((Soros)))," in less than subtle dog whistling in very public comment sections on the Interwebz, but I don't think that's true of mainstream conservatives or even the Trumpistas. I think this is very similar in the way that people who criticise Israel are slammed for being anti-semitic: some definitely are, and no one should be shy in pointing it out, but there's also no denying it is often used as a way to deflect legitimate criticism of some of the not-so-nice policies of the State of Israel.

Sheldon Adelson, along with of the politicians he's bought over the years, Ted Cruz and Bibi Netanyahu, and Donald Trump notably, like to cite Soros as a boogeyman to scare voters, and Adelson is Jewish with a capital yud and sees anti-semitism in anyone who doesn't agree with him or every action of the State of Israel.

He is heavily involved in spending money from his casino empire to affect the politics of Nevada, the US, and Israel. In Israel, campaign finance laws are much stricter and make it harder to bribe politicians the way our Oligarch Job Creators are able to in the US, so Adelson is forced to affect public opinion in other ways, like buying up left-leaning newspapers, putting them out of business, and starting a free newspaper that now tops circulation despite being well to the right of the average Israeli voter, that pays crap wages to desperate-to-stay-employed journalists who will do as they are told, and operates at a massive loss, in order to keep the wheels turning on the pro-Netanyahu propaganda machine.

I think elections should be strictly publicly funded, with campaigning limited to 6 weeks before an election, and that laws should protect media from becoming monopolies. IMHO, to argue otherwise is to concede to hypocrisy and willingly participate in the reduction of all political discourse down to "my oligarch is better than your oligarch" and advance the celebrity-fueled, Belesconi-esque, game-showification of politics to new and ugly places.
