With all the news lately about the Clippers, Lakers and Celtics. It feels as though Dwight Howard and Chris Paul are slipping away from our plans. Of course there are a lot of things that would have to happen like the Lakers agreeing to take back Blake Griffin, Howard actually willing to leave LA, Clippers getting the right coach for Paul to stay. Anything can happen... What is your preferred team if plans A and B fall through? Discussed possibilities: - Trading for Danny Granger - Signing Andrew Bynum (1 Year Max) - Signing Al Jefferson - Signing Josh Smith - Signing Paul Milsap - Signing Andre Igoudala
Trading non key players for Danny Granger who is expiring would give us some flexibility or signing Andrew Bynum to a one year max contract with a 2nd year team option would work. I voted for Paul Milsap, I think he gives us a great mid range game and some toughness down low that we're missing. He's got Patrick Patterson's offense and Carl Landry's defensive toughness.
Correct, but I wouldn't trade more assets that could become useful in acquiring a 2nd star (if we strikeout this summer) for a redundant small forward that hasn't played a game since early 2012 due to knee injuries. I'm sure Walsh will try to collect as much as possible for Granger. I'd give a few Delfino deals while and keeping our cap flexibility, no point in making deals for any of the above mentioned. Most of them wouldn't even except one year contracts with Team Options to begin with.
Gotta agree with Da Spark, if Howard falls through, it has gotta be all about Gasol. Use the cap space and one of the young forwards, such as Thomas Robinson, to bring over Gasol -- then, at the end of the season, his contract come off the books and the Rockets will have gained a PF who is a great fit on the team while at the same time still having cap space at the end of the year.
I would sign Iggy and let Parsons play 4 (our interior defense is bad anyways). We will focus on transition offense and perimeter defense. Asik is pretty good for the defense inside already, and all the more rebounds he will get will boost up his value even more.
I do not disagree w/ this move if our better plans fall through, but I do question the bolded haha. Have you seen our run n' gun style? I also worry a lot about his injuries/age/coming off a surgery.
If that's the case, might as well make it a four team deal, throw in Robinson to a team and we get Pau Gasol.
So you suggest one of these options just to advance one round????? Perfect way to build a championship contender.
If Chris Paul and Dwight Howard are off the market, who else is worth waiting for? Continue with 1st round exits while hoping Lebron signs with us in 2014? Let's be real...
Would LA be as anxious to get Pau off their books if they lose Howard? Does a lot of it depend on Koby's condition and return date?
