Utah is apparently interested in trading their PF for a young starter PG...

I doubt Machado is waived, Rockets have a glut of big men. My first thought was either some sort of trade coming or bye bye Cole Aldrich.

Pretty obvious what's going on. The way Douglas is playing now, we won't be able to re-sign him this summer and still keep our near-max cap room. This is Morey thinking ahead, looking for a new backup PG down the road on an affordable contract. Always with the flexibility.

wasnt Cole having a $2,445,480 salary while machado $473,604? otherwise i think you have a point.

Another pg? Must be another trade or Morey wants the world's best D-league team.

Well, another facilitator. Tbh, Douglas plays more like an SG, and he doesn't facilitate that we'll, to the point that harden is having to log more min to run as PG with the bench.

In the best of circumstances, how long would it take for PB to be ready for NBA rotation minutes?

If trade, is there a Cousin comin'?

    From nbadraft.net:

Strengths: A combo guard who excels playing at a high pace … He likes to keep the pressure on the defense by looking to attack in transition … Has good length and a very impressive 37’ max vert … His jumper is smooth and he has a very compact and efficient release … He has shot a good percentage from beyond the arc during his college career as well as overseas … Plays with a lot of confidence and is not afraid to make the big play … Attacks contact and knows how to draw fouls … Off the dribble he is dangerous due to his solid handle as well as his ability to turn the corner and explode … As a defender, his energy and quickness make him a pest and he is also able to use his long arms to disrupt the passing lanes … As a rebounder he is extremely good, because he is willing to get to the glass, but also because of his leaping ability as well as good anticipation …

Weaknesses: Plays with a scorer’s mentality and does not have the natural playmaking ability that a player at 6’1 must have … In the pick and roll he struggles reading the action and making the plays when the defense rotates … Struggles finishing over bigger help defenders … His light frame makes it difficult for him to attack stronger guards and it also gives him trouble defending because he gets bodied out of position … After a solid freshman year at the line, he has struggled shooting from the charity stripe during his last 2 seasons (64% and 70%) … Spent the last season playing in the UBL, which is the 2nd tier of the Ukrainian league …

    Draftexpress:

There are not many 21-year-old players seeing significant rotation minutes at this level of European basketball--and surely none of them are American. Miami Heat 2009 draftee Patrick Beverley is doing just that, though, playing an important role as an energizer and defensive stopper off the bench for a very good Olympiacos team. He's extremely efficient inside the arc, contributes as a rebounder and is a pace-changer with the pressure he's able to put on the ball defensively.

Beverely stepped up after Von Wafer was unceremoniously dismissed from the team back in December and hasn't looked back. His limitations as a perimeter shooter and playmaker can be pretty glaring at this level, but, considering his age and the experience he's garnering under Coach Panagiotis Giannakis, it's tough to say that he would have been better off honing his craft on a bad Arkansas team rather than playing for one of the best squads in the world outside the NBA.

i doubt it, it would be dumb move if they do that, houston need powerful PF, and powerful backup center, either that position, not GUARD position, we already have enough, harden lin cook td, and if they give up on lin, even later on P.Be become a good one, it won't give too many boosting effect,

if they wanna give a boosting effect, they have to trade machado or cook and replace them with P.Be then it would be a good upgrade

    just my opinion

^ His scouting report sounds like a Toney Douglas Part 2 except the vertical.

douglas and lin have completely opposite strengths and weaknesses, which makes them a good combo (unless we're getting someone like CP3). i'd say beverley is being brought in to have that 3rd PG on the active roster (b/c machado just plain sucks).
