LOL...Giles must have blown another save judging by these comments. I know he's the closer, but it's probably not great to let a guy go 2 weeks between meaningful appearances.
Fiers is the player of the game. This guy has turned his season around and has kept the rotation afloat and been a savior for the bullpen more consistently than the other healthy starters.
There was a flukey aspect to the rash of HR's he gave up early in the season, and then there was also a flukey aspect to his long streak of games with no HR's (I think it started just after Jeter night). So he's bound to go through a spell where he settles into a more normal stretch of giving up about 1 HR per 9 innings. Good job for MIke tonight.
Giles needs consistent work to stay sharp. Way to buckle down... odd that he hasn't had the meltdown of meltdowns yet this season. Even great closers suffer at least one WTF game.
