It's on Fiers to keep the cushion. Several times this year the Stros have put up runs early only to have the starter give them back in the next couple of innings.
Fiers has largely been the biggest culprit of that... by far, he has the best run support of the team this year, and it hasn't translated in the win column (only the Oakland/Giles game was truly not on him).
Nice response inning by Fiers. Hopefully the offense keeps it going. I want more runs! 5 ain't enough !!
No doubt... he invented "Club Astros". It was HIS idea. He has plenty style. Spoiler One of the reasons he's already my 2nd favorite Astro all-time He has an easy argument. One of the OPS leaders, steals leader, and very good defense.
Umps need to have a buzzer or something that goes off (via a k-zone sensor) whenever its really a strike. They can still attempt to call balls/strikes with their eyes... but after they realize how many times they're truly wrong in the moment, they'll either be forced to be better, or they'll simply concede to the more accurate technology.
Just a statement of fact; every starter on the team has done it at least once this year. It's pretty demoralizing, especially for an offense that's been inconsistent. Fiers got spotted a 6-0 lead in the 2nd last week, he threw 95 pitches and couldn't make it out of the 5th.
Am I the only one enjoying the Brownie/Blummer booth significantly more than anything with Ashby in it?
No, you're not. This is how it should be... for every single game. Blum is very good. He's no Deshaies, but compared to Ashby, he's exponentially better.
Quality work from Fiers, no let down tonight. A full trip through the rotation without a dud performance, that's progress.
