There is no way things don’t turn positive with excellent starts from our starters all year as it’s looking.

Just a spark and you can feel the team reeling off ten in a row.

It would be a poetic way to break out of the hitting slump if the Astros win this game against Edwin Diaz.

Diaz has a lot of extra motion in his delivery. Never heard of him but surprised he has had success with that delivery. Of course that is probably said by opposing fans when Devo enters the game

He hasn't done one in so long I'm afraid he's going to tear his rotator cuff next time.

Well, Marwin got 1 hanging slider and fouled it off. So it goes.

It's pretty comical that over the past few games, watching Marwin, Jake, Fisher and Gattis work the count and have an extended AB before making an out is seen as an improvement.

Marwin, LF, and DH are massive holes in the lineup and these spots seemed to keep coming up in key moments. The other guys in the lineup aren't hitting well enough collectively to carry 3 sub .200 hitters in the lineup so this is what you get.

Apparently either opponents have gone to work in the off-season in studying Astro hitters flaws or they are just really cold. Way too many strikeouts, still. I’m assuming Kyle Tucker will be up in June. That seems like such a long time from now though.

As putrid as the offense has been over the last 2 weeks, it’s way too early to bench anyone yet. Let’s all step off the ledge. The starting pitching has been good. The hitting will come around. Bregman and marwin will come around. Gurriel just got here. Altuve will start rippin doubles and bombs. The pen is actually a much bigger concern for me.

Division may be out of hand at that point given how well the Angels are playing.

This thread is full of "just wait till the bats..." but not many are factoring in how insanely easy the Astros schedule has been before this series. Texas twice, Baltimore at home, San Diego. A complete gift win by San Diego's misplayed routine infield Bregman popup.

Now the schedule gets much tougher with Seattle, Yankees, Angels, etc. Normalize the Astros level of play through the first 17 games for a more typical schedule than the abnormally easy schedule they've had and they are likely a below .500 team.

The 2017 Astros were incredible but the 2018 Astros are very mediocre so far. The 10-7 record is very deceiving.

Yes the hitters will likely improve some, but guys like Reddick and Marwin had career seasons in 2017 and are very likely to regress significantly. McCann is declining due to wear and tear. Bullpen is below average. Also, there's not a chance Verlander and Cole are going to go out every single game and strike out 10-14 hitters and give up only one run. The starting pitching will likely regress from what has been a historic start that has basically been pissed away by an incredible level of underachieving.

The Astros are dead last in OPS in the Major Leagues over the past 11 games. That's not a small sample size and they are obviously (knock on wood!) very healthy.

Highlight of the game was Segura's reaction to Carlos Correa's throw and the Julia power outage.
Will we ever win again? It was nice while it lasted!
