the google doc has Westbrook with 46 votes that have been accounted for in comparison to Harden's 36 even in the OP's post for this thread, Westbrook has 37 votes that have been accounted for in comparison to Harden's 26 Westbrook is in the lead, but the gap isn't a big as it appears, and there's still over 40 unrevealed ballots
yeah, but what I'm saying is that 46 of Westbrook's votes have been accounted for in comparison to just 36 for Harden which is why the gap in points seems so large right now
Sure even if Harden has another 10 second places (bit optimistic, there are some haters out there). Then the math is: Westbrook 416 Harden 365 Much closer, but no idea about it's accuracy and it's just optimistic to speculate. My original post has the current knowledge that has been published on twitter and other forums by voters, yes there are many ballots still unaccounted for, but as it stands, Westbrook is in the lead no matter how you dissect it. Let's not bury the lead here dissecting it - current known knowledge
I haven't looked at it, but gut feeling leads me to believe that 416 to 365 number is probably pretty close to accurate. Similar gap to what I had on the previous page. Without doing any new calculations I'd wager the gap is between 50-80 points with a lot of votes still to be counted. And a lot of the quiet ones are probably going to vote Harden if my read on human psychology is accurate. I think Harden has a good chance still.
I'm pretty disappointed in Doris Burke's decision to vote Westbrook MVP. I thought she was one of the smart ones at ESPN.. guess not.
No, I'm saying that we know whether Harden finished 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc on only 36 ballots in comparison to knowing where Westbrook finished on 46 ballots. To say that it doesn't look good for Harden because he has 295 points and Russ has 416 is disingenuous because Westbrook's 416 points are from 46 ballots while Harden's 295 points are from 36 ballots. Westbrook is definitely still the favorite to win, but the gap between them isn't as big as it appears. Many of the revealed ballots have come from people who were known Westbrook supporters throughout the season, and there's still so many ballots that haven't been revealed.
It's pretty straightforward and simple. Around 54 voters have revealed part of or all of their MVP ballots. There's 100 voters, so that means that there's still over 40 ballots that have not been revealed.
they're not...many traditional voters had their votes taken away this year because the NBA was looking for more objectivity
ESPN personnel are a disgrace to journalism, sports, analysis, writers in general and an example of wasted brain capacity and integrity.
Agreed. And she was a PG so surprising she wouldn't side with the assist leading Harden. Further, she had harden as MVP in December.
This is the link to the people at dreamshake that are continuously updating it - pretty comprehensive Westbrook with 38 (1) 9 (2) 4 (3) = 455 (51 votes counted) Harden with 16 (1) 23 (2) 1 (3) = 325 (40 votes counted)
