Can give better advice on what to do with some info. Coming with family or alone? More interested in the culture or the strippers? What time of year (I assume after Nov 1 if you're going to see a Rockets game).

Someone mentioned Kemah, which I would highly recommend. Too cold for beach weather so Galveston wouldn't be much worth the side trip (although they do have some non-beach places to visit).

If you want to exercise / stretch your legs, Memorial Park or Buffalo Bayou Park. Eye candy ain't bad, either.

If you don't like art or food you probably want to bring a Gameboy or something.

Or go for the steak at Pappas Steakhouse. Europeans always want steak when they come here.

Best thing about Houston is the food and the art. Eat Vietnamese, mexican, and seafood. Some of the best food in America is in Houston.

Go to the Menil and any number of other museums.

If you want a taste of modern american beer, skip St. Arnold and go to 8th Wonder, much more innovative, exciting and what US craft beer is about.

Definitely DONT fly all the way to Texas from Europe and go to Kemah, it's a dump

In houston you may need to rent a car or use Uber to get around depending. Our public transportation sucks and get ready for the traffic. Skip Kemah and Galvestion and as the other member suggest to just spend a few days here and drive or Austin and San Antonio. Dallas sucks so you are not missing out on anything. For sure you should try Texas style BBQ.

Avoid midtown unless you're in college.

Go to Montrose, Heights, rice village for drinks
