Do they receive government funding like PBS? Crazy how it’s still on tv. I guess the current president has helped them.
Arguing about SNL players being good/bad is just about as consistent as saying every era of SNL keeps getting worse (yet there's people longing for the era of Ferrel... when at the time, people were longing for the Myers/Carvey/Sandler days.... when before that people were longing for the Murray/Belushi days). All that being said, Pete Davidson is still bad. He's the perfect example of the hot rookie debut season (or in this case, one great weekend update standup act), and never really evolved beyond this.
Michael Che. He's just not funny. He shouldn't even be a comedian. Perhaps he should try drama in a CSI TV show.
Kenan Thompson because he is about as funny as when he was on All That... I don't dislike him but he really isn't that funny...
It's on at what is 11:30 PM their local time on Saturday nights. Saturday is the worst day slot for TV shows, ratings wise, even during 'prime time'. They have zero competition for television shows in their time slot. They take low-end talent and cheap sets and make something out of it with guest stars who do the guest starring for free (publicity/fun). They are their own demographic and can charge a premium for commercial time. It's easy money for the producers. And now their Youtube channel and clips get millions of views. It's a cash cow.
