A friend of mine and I were having this debate...

Basically his argument is that Kobe is the new MJ....with all the rings, MVP awards, All Star appearances and such.

I told him that MJ in his prime would totally decimate Kobe...from his BBall IQ, his unstoppable fade away jump shot, high level of competitiveness. Basically no matter what Kobe has accomplished, I don't think he can beat MJ in his prime 1 on 1 or even in a real game. What do you all think? Do you really think Kobe is as good or better than MJ?

I would have to go with MJ. He was a legend and the leader of the Jackson 5. He was the main guy thoughout his career.

Your friend is a deluded Kobe, there's no point having an argument with them.

Like I've said before. I respect Kobe. There is nothing in basketball I hate more than his fans.

I think the better debate at this point is, Kobe in his prime, on roids and a jetpack vs Michael.

Not that I had a chance to watch MJ much during his prime but just based on the fact that MJ was able to play on both ends of the floor makes him a clear winner. Yeah Kobe can play some tenacious defense, he just doesn't all the time. I would pick MJ in his prime over Kobe any day, no contest.
