He was just on the jump and said Portland had a mix up and they thought Portland was helping us get Melo but that wasn't the case, and now they have to start all over in the trade discussion. I guess deal is not imminent
well some of us were thinking it was just a pause and they would resume the deal but it's actually starting all over in the trade talk
They are pretty unstable themselves with no GM and LBJ able to leave after next season. Could maybe expand list?
They paused talks. They'll reset those talks & see...create the illusion that they might bring him back. Carmelo already sent a strong message to that group that let's continue down this path & get a deal done. Houston had become the primary focus for Melo. Cleveland was secondary. The moment Chris Paul got to Houston, that's what ignited this for the Rockets. The players impact in this league...Harden had tremendous impact to get CP3 & CP3 may have tremendous impact in getting Melo to tell NY this is the only place I want to go to get this deal done. Portland interested in Melo? As one GM in this process told me, this has become the AAU NBA model. Portland's players are reaching out to Melo. Portland would love to get involved & become a team Melo would consider. Portland feels if you plug Melo in to our team, we're as good as anyone outside of GS. NY & Houston tried to pull Portland into a 3 or 4-team deal. Portland has no interest in helping Houston get Carmelo. They'd like Carmelo to waive his NTC to go to Portland but that is not something he is considering. How bad does he want to get out of NY? He may have to sacrifice a few million. He's willing to waive that trade kicker, worth $8M. That makes it easier for Houston. It's hard to match the pieces up in this. It will be a dance to get to that buyout. Right now, it's hard for them to find a trade. Portland doesn't want to be a part of this right now & it's almost a complete reset for Houston to start a new package. Scott Perry wants to negotiate his own trade. They have to start this over. Carmelo did not easily come to a decision to waive his NTC. He's not going to immediately have a meeting & go back to this.
ugh, this is never happening. Hope Morey keeps plugging away, but as a fan I'm not holding my breath anymore.
