rockets have a mvp caliber guard and a hall of fame pg next to him. In a perimeter based league, I'd say the core is probably about right

actually they ranked us 5th on O and 4th on D. adding melo for ryno wouldn't hurt our D any, but would obviously improve our O. we could project to be like 2nd on O and 4th on D after the trade. idk how that effects RPM rankings but it would definitely close the gap between us and the warriors. we'd have a punchers chance.

There are at least 2 reasons for that.

    1) All championship teams in modern NBA history had star(s) developed from their own draft picks.

    2) There were no top scorer in any championship teams that had FG% below 45%. It is above 50% in recent years.

Rockets does not meet both conditions. That is why I don't like Morey or Harden in this team. You can have all kind of excuses for them, but you can not change the historic data.

this is dumb bc theres no one concrete criteria that say you have to win a title that way. nobody would win championships shooting a ton of jumpers and 3s someone once said. oh nvm see the last several years

You can't win a championship playing small ball. Oh wait nvm

I may be crazy but even if we don't get Melo I feel as if we have a fighting chance now to win the title

We beat the warriors a few times last season and all of our games were really close

    12. New York Knicks
    Projected wins:
    32.0

A weak point guard rotation figures to keep the Knicks from making the playoffs even in a weakened East. The best RPM projection for any of New York's point guards belongs to rookie Frank Ntilikina (minus-1.9 points per 100 possessions). Second-year guard Ron Baker is projected to be 2.1 points worse than league average per 100 possessions, while veteran Ramon Sessions is at minus-2.9.

Odd that they didn't mention Porzingis or Melo.

    Forecast: 2017-18 West standings

    1. Golden State Warriors | Projected record: 66-16 | Last season: 67-15
    2. Houston Rockets | Projected record: 57-25 | Last season: 55-27

It might seem counterintuitive that adding Chris Paul results in only a two-win increase for Houston, but we've seen plenty of instances in recent years where superteams struggled out of the gate. Just last season, Golden State added Kevin Durant and lost six wins from its season-to-season total. And it's not just the Rockets who are getting better; the Western Conference continues to load up on talent from top to bottom.

    3. San Antonio Spurs | Projected record: 54-28 | Last season: 61-21
    4. OKC Thunder | Projected record: 50-32 | Last season: 47-35
    5. Minnesota Timberwolves | Projected record: 48-34 | Last season: 31-51
    6. Denver Nuggets | Projected record: 46-36 | Last season: 40-42
    7. LA Clippers | Projected record: 45-37 | Last season: 51-31
    8. Utah Jazz | Projected record: 44-38 | Last season: 51-31
    9. Portland Trail Blazers | Projected record: 42-40 | Last season: 41-41

It'd be a tough pill to swallow in Portland if the Blazers finished above .500 but missed the playoffs for the first time since 2013. Of course, this projection could end up getting thrown out the window if Damian Lillard, C.J. McCollum & Co. can convince Carmelo Anthony to waive his no-trade clause and join them in the Rose City.

    10. New Orleans Pelicans | Projected record: 41-41 | Last season: 34-48
    11. Memphis Grizzlies | Projected record: 35-47 | Last season: 43-39
    12. Dallas Mavericks | Projected record: 33-49 | Last season: 33-49
    13. Los Angeles Lakers | Projected record: 32-50 | Last season: 26-56
    14. Sacramento Kings | Projected record: 29-53 | Last season: 32-50
    15. Phoenix Suns | Projected record: 28-54 | Last season: 24-58

Wow, that's a really erotic-looking picture. I'd be concerned if I was Steph Curry's wife. K.D. doesn't look he's taking no for an answer.

Don't see how Twolves are so high. Don't see why Pels are so low.

    David Lloyd's Top 5:
    1. Golden State
    2. Cleveland
    3. Boston.
    4. Houston - not quite as sold on the Rockets as BPI. Gave up some nice pieces to get a really good PG in Chris Paul. Gonna score some points. I don't know. (Cari Champion: I agree with you)
    5. Minnesota

thats just ESPN setting up the Rockets with, "whats wrong with Houston" articles all year when we dont get the 2nd seed. Keep in mind these are the same people at ESPN that said CP3 and Harden would not work and that they can not coexsist
