Kinda interesting after they just hired Hollinger...Here's what some twitter guys commented:

Here's what's sad to me about Lionel Hollins' comments: He thinks statistical analysis has different goals than he does.
— Kevin Pelton (@kpelton) January 11, 2013

This Lionel Hollins interview is just puzzling, his reasoning for why scoring is down is nonsense.

The Lionel Hollins interview has pretty much confirmed all the suspicions I've had about how he handles his team. This is good though. We need bad management in the league so the Rockets can capitalize.

Reading the article, it sounds like Hollins is a guy that would believe that when flipping a coin, "tails never fails".

I think he's just being a good coach, ie sticking up for his player. It's widely known Hollinger dislikes Gay as a player and now Gay is rumored to be on the trade block. This is just Hollins showing his support while Gay is still on the team.

While Hollinger is a step in the right direction, his stuff is very simple and not in the same league with what Boston, Dallas and Houston are doing.

What did he say that was bad?

He didn't knock it, but he said it can't be the end all and be all. A lot of these stat guys think the numbers can tell you everything and they simply cannot.

He's right too. Stats Can't be used as the determining factor, there is a human element here that stats usually can't get a hold of.

Right there. I think he summed it up right there.

Steve Kerr downplayed the important of analytics last night during the Heat-Blazers game on TNT as well and so has Phil Jackson.

Daryl Morey has also said analytics isn't sufficient by itself. I don't know why these guys can't get with the times and play some moreyb-- oh wait, nevermind.

The grizzlies defense has nothing to do with analytics. It's just a thing of beauty.

I've always wondered why you are on this forum if you are such a huge Grizz fan.

From reading the article, it sure seems like Hollins is aiming at somebody (like Hollinger). Sounds like a pre-emptive strike against something their front office is considering.

This is unfortunate for the Grizzlies.

When you're handcuffed and forced to make trades based on shedding salary and a notoriously cheap owner, those moves you make tend to be bad ones.

I was a member of this forum way before I was a grizzlies fan. That's why. I've been on this forum since 1994.

In a weird sort of way, Hollins just bumped up Gays' trade value.

    :)
