Which sport is more popular? Which sport gives them higher ratings? Which sport only plays 16 games versus 82 games? Any of the sports talk stations anywhere in the country will tell you talking NFL free agency is better for business than beating a 8 win sixers team.

Are any of you guys also shocked college basketball, nascar, golf and hockey are barely discussed on sports talk? What people want dictates what they talk about. They talk plenty of Rockets and have plenty of rockets guest on 790.

Touche, but I'm just saying the 2 huge splashes in Texans news was about 18 hours ago.

Go look at NBA finals ratings versus regular season NFL games.

I had stated in the GARM that I don't think we're making the playoffs, that we would be 9th seed.

Also said though that I would be elated if I was wrong. Sure hope I'm wrong. With how we released the Kracken by unleashing KJ....and B-Easy playing the way he did...and Harden averaging Super Saiyan numbers....and Howard beasting...and Josh Smith DNPing... man... I'm starting to get excited!

We have a shot against OKC. They have weaknesses. We definitely have a shot against the Clippers if we can climb up that dramatically in the seedings to get 5th seed. Hell even 7th seed against the Spurs...I think we'd take the series deep and make it interesting. We just need to hide from the Dubs for as long as we can, and let other teams bang up on them as best they can.

Most of the shows have a former football player as co-host. One show has two former football players as co-hosts.

I think getting much in the way of sports talk outside of football is just not in the cards here in Houston.

Having good ratings on sports radio depends on talking about NFL football. Look at 610s rating having the Texans versus 790s having rockets/Astros/Aggies/Cougars. And 790 is way better than 610 when it comes to sports talk overall but being the flagship of the NFL franchise is money and way more important than being the flagship of the rockets/Astros/Aggies/Cougars combined.

It's not just here. It's every market.

Who cares? they are so bad in general, only CP is a knowledge person who did his preparation before going on the radio. Most of others just open their mouths on radio to keep talking without much common sense. The 650 and 1560 are bit of better, at least they speak good English.

CP on the afternoon show talks lots of the rockets, but he still keeps his job safely. He also gets lots of calling from callers. Morning show has so a few callers, so they just keep talk by themselves all morning even they talk Texans all the time.

Charlie still talks more football than basketball. Charlie is also getting beat in the ratings to 610 at the same time slot. They have ex NFL player(Johnson) on at the same time slot on 610. The morning show on 790 has Morey, Thad brown, Ackerman as weekly guests. They are adequate with their rockets talk.

If 790 would have opened the show this morning breaking down the game versus the 76ers, 90% of their audience would flip to a channel that was talking about the Texans free agent signing. They talk about things that keep them on the air.

Houston possibly doesn't deserve a basketball team, move the team to New York and the energy will probably be ten times more than the city of Houston has for the Houston Rockets basketball team.

Which is why the rockets are at 99.1 percent capacity for games at Toyota center.

Plenty of games are pretty empty especially the lower sidelines which happen to be the most expensive seats. The tickets are sold, but people don't show up.
