    I'm not even mad at the Knicks trading Porzingis...but really the best they could get for him was Dennis Smith? Really?

    I don't believe it.

    My takeaways:

    New York: Just creating two max slots is risky, they must know at least one person is coming. I'm sure they will shoot for AD and KD, but what if they end up with like, Jimmy Butler and Tobias Harris?

    Dallas: It's annoying when Mavs acquire players I want to root for like Porzingis and Doncic. I can't even wrap my mind about whether that is a good fit or not. Strike me as high offensive ceiling, low defense.

    Houston: Burgeoning superpower in New York? Better the East than west. Maybe Knicks will buy out Kanter, Matthews, Jordan, flooding the market with buyout candidates helping Rockets get the pick of the litter (ugh, but that could backfire when Warriors and other teams get nice pick ups too. I bet Matthews annoyingly signs with Warriors).

    Makes sense for both teams.

    Dallas gets a potential top 15 player when healthy, who is a fantastic fit next to Luka. DSJ wasn't a happy camper anyways. Tim Hardaway Jr. also fits their timeline and would be great for them.

    New York must be making this move based on a determination that the AD sweepstakes will drag out into the summer. They wouldn't be able to trade Porzingis then, so they liquidate him for assets that they can use then--DSJ and probably a first rounder. If Dallas misses the playoffs, they would have two chances at a top pick, and if they hit, they would be able to put together an offer that's competitive to Boston's. They also open significant cap space , which allows them to lure Durant/Kawhi to team up with Davis and put together that super team they've always dreamed of.

    That's what I was gonna say. I doubt a contender has the cap flexibility to offer the Knicks anything beneficial. Would absolutely love to get him on a buy out

    Rumor is Knick’s are going to go hard after Irving and Davis when he becomes a free agent. This sets them up nicely for that. They could also go after Durant this summer too, which is a definitely possibility.
