Melo will remain a knick until he gets tired of waiting and will add teams to his list. Morey tried but the Knicks are not interested in any of the scenarios presented to them by Houston. It is likely at this point in the next few weeks the rockets will try one last ditch effort to haggle with new York but at this time the deal has sailed. Melo is frustrated but again, people FAR underestimated the leverage that new York holds in this deal. They never HAD to make a deal to make Melo happy. They are happy standing pat. Let's just say this stings and I'm salty about it, but I'm still in awe that Presti got Melo for trash again. My hope is that we just have a better season than OKC.

I've never bought into the argument that Morey didn't think Melo was worth more than Ryno. If Morey had known the situation would end like this, there's no doubt in my mind that he would have upped his offer and gave away Gordon and Ariza.

Melo on our squad just made too much sense, even if it meant losing Gordon. The biggest weakness of our team is that we don't have a forward that can make plays off the dribble. Ariza, Anderson, Mbah a Moute and Tucker are all mechanical players. Besides catch and shoot, they don't bring much to the table. In the playoffs, the Spurs put Danny Green on Anderson and completely shut Anderson down because he can't dribble. And to compete with a dynamic offensive team like the Warriors you would have to keep the scoreboard moving because they are so great offensively that you simply cannot stop them, you have to outscore them. Melo would have given us much better chance.

Losing Gordon would have been a pity. But is he really that irreplaceable as some have suggested? To me I can stomach the loss of Gordon. We already have a very strong backcourt with CP and Harden. We know MDA is going to stagger their minutes. Having a starting caliber guard in Gordon is great, but it's not a necessity. A serviceable guard (e.g. Monta Ellis) would have filled the void. And I've always thought that Ariza is vastly overrated here. After the addition of Tucker and Mbah a Moute, he has became obsolete.

Remember when we got CP Morey did a ton of interviews saying "we need to up our risk profile", "we need to add more team USA members", "we'll make our moves in the final lap". I guess deep down in his mind he thought he had gotten Melo. Because we had the exclusive window to trade Melo, he tried to play hardball and thought the Knicks would eventually fold but the result was disastrous for us. When Melo got desperate and expanded the wish list it became too late for us. Hindsight is 20/20 but it was a misjudgement on his part.

I try to positive about it but the future is not looking good for us. I can't help but think we're going to be stuck in mediocrity for a while. We'll be way over the cap after we re-sign Capela and there's very little room to operate even if a star becomes available in the FA market. The earliest draft pick we can trade is 2020. The only valuable asset we have for rebuilding team is Capela. Other contenders, such as the Cavs and the Celtics, are equipped with very good draft picks so if the next disgruntle star becomes available for trade, our odds would be very bad. This is why Melo was our best shot. This was a golden opportunity. We couldn't possibly ask for a better situation and I just can't believe Morey let it slip.

I've been a Rocket fan for more than 10 years and yesterday was 1 of my saddest moments as a Rocket fan. I think Morey is still a pretty good GM, all things considered. But this is embarrassing. I hope he learnt his lesson and don't outsmart himself next time. But it looks like our championship window over the next couple of years has just closed yesterday and Harden's prime would be wasted.

How do you blame Morey for Melo caving and giving up the ONLY leverage he had in this situation?

Morey, just like everyone was stabbed in the back and clearly caught off guard by this idiotic decision. Who in their right mind thought he'd cave when we all knew push was going to come to shove as training camp approached.

I don't really think OKc just got "a lot better than us".

I would say out of the 5 stars between the two teams harden and CP3 are the best 2. OKC is just deeper.

Gotta disagree here. Harden and CP3 could be the best, but Westbrook is no slouch and PG neither. We are much deeper though.
