    Hey guys,

there were lots of talks and predictions about our team in the offseason. In the end it looked like our big 3 are Howard, Harden and Parsons - at least if you believed the media hype. The idea was, that if one or two of them are having a bad night, we would still have another one to carry the load. Now 3 games into the season we can see how that works:

    1. game: CHA 83 HOU 96
Howard comes up big with 17 pts, 26 rebs, 2BS and 2 Asists

    2. game: DAL 105 HOU 113
Harden comes up big with 34 pts, 4 stls, 3 rebs, 3 assists

    3. game: UTAH 93 HOU 103
Parsons comes up big with 24 pts, 12 rebs, 6 assists, 1 stl

Even when one or two of our big 3 are struggling, so far there has always been one that kept us in the game. We had some ugly stretches so far and are far from being a well run team, but so far our individual talent has come through. I am not saying Parsons is a star, but he could very well be a legit 3d piece to a championship team. Right now I think Morey is pretty pleased with the drawing board.

And let`s not forget we still have Lin who is playing a great season so far. Garcia and Asik has been great role players, and we are still waiting on Beverly.

It will still take time until the twin towers truly work together and we will have to figure out what to do with Beverly and Lin and get the right system for this team. But so far we are the number 1 team in the country. It is scary to think, that we haven`t really played good ball so far...

So far Lin has outplayed Parsons, and has been more consistent too. If anything, he's the one who is part of the big 3.

we have a big three? And Parsons had no choice but to play well. Omri was needed badly vs the jazz.

I didn`t want to take anything away from Lin - I agree that he was the better player over the course of the 3 games. But Parsons was the one that held us in the Jazz game, when everybody else was sucking. And he clearly had the best stat line. And with all the media hype he got, he was clearly our 3d "star" player. And my point was, that always at least 1 of our big 3 showed up big and helped us remain unbeaten.

Lin was really good in every game, but he wasn`t the x-factor in one game so far (though he got close in the last game).

So this is turning in to a Lin thread again. The quality of the garm is equivalent to the load I just released in the bathroom.

Need to see more games... games against the top dogs. Remember that season that the Rockets started something like 6-0 and we were all so excited, mac called it the best team, but the team hovered around .500 for half the season? Then what happened ?

We are talking about the third "star" on the team, so yes Lin will get mentioned.

That was the best team that Yao and T-mac had been on...both guys did not finish the season healthy though...

Two stars are role players. There is no third star.

Having Lin as the 3rd/4th option is a great luxery.

There's no denying Parsons carried Houston against the Jazz. His three had not worked so he drove instead. Got some confidence and then the 3 started falling.

Championship caliber teams need role players who can step up on any given night and deliver a 20/7/6 line. The Rockets have Parsons, Lin and Casspi. Hopefully it will be enough. Heck Garcia and Asik can also put up very good numbers.

Cxbby, your "Parsons is mediocre" meme is threatening to bump Carl Herrera's "Patrick Patterson is the perfect PF for this team" meme out of the #1 spot it's held for month's on the Pounding Away on a Dead Horse chart.

Do you disagree that Lin has been better so far?

Better than Parsons? Well, it's apples and oranges, since their roles are so different, but Parsons kept us in the game against Utah. Lin has played well, but I'd say neither of them is looking all that spectacular so far. There's much room for improvement from both.

I truly understand for certain people, it's difficult for them to admit Lin's the importance to the team.
