-Fairly athletic and can run -Amazing rebounder -Nice mid range jumper -Adequate post game -Probably won't command anywhere near the max. 10mil at most. What says yous?
Not in their future plans. Who cares, he's free! http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports....ed-to-part-ways-with-j-j-hickson-this-summer/
I say Howard or bust when it comes to starters. I'd rather sign some solid bench guys in the Lou Williams mold (not saying there's one out there not sure) but why not ride it out with the rooks and hope one of them emerges ahead of the pack to become that 4 we need
He basically only rebounds. His offensive game is mediocre, and he doesn't play very good defense. We don't need another guy in the front court whose primary ability is rebounding.
For an Asik type contract ($8m/per) I'd be all over it. He can slide over for half his minutes and play as the backup center. This would be perfect as we can let the young PFs develop and get some playing time. I like what each brings to the floor. Trob = energy ; TJones = savy face up dribble drive ; DMo = post game
Plus for Hickson when compared to Josh Smith or Paul Millsap. I see what you did. Cherry picked and left out the 35.5 % from 3-10 foot range. I wouldn't mind if Hickson is Plan B after Dwight [assuming Iguodala is not an unrestricted free agent this summer - early termination option]. True, but Larry Sanders won't be a restricted free agent until summer 2014. At 29.3 minutes per game, Hickson is ranked #6 with 40 double-doubles [12.9 ppg, 10.6 rpg]. Compare that to Josh Smith at 35.7 mpg, 17.4 ppg, and 8.5 rpg. Hickson has only two 3-point attempts this year so he's not that "stretch-4" everybody seems to want, but he is capable out to 21-feet (see the shot chart / heat map). http://www.nba.com/statistics/playe...tion=0&splitType=9&yearsExp=-1&pager.offset=0 http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/hicksjj01/shooting/2013/ Exactly. Or you could pair Hickson with Greg Smith and have a solid C-PF rotation.
I have him on my plan E. I would split his time at backup C and PF. Still it's too early for offseason thread moves.
Pretty much this, I don't want to lock up rotation minutes and $8M in a player that will be marginally better than our PFs with their development next season
