Understatement of the year. Dude could extinguish all of the wildfires and be called racist for doing it.

If someone in 2004 told me that GWB would be loved more by the left than Carter I would tell them to quit doing drugs

I guess that's objectively true, but meaningless without context. Trump says far more things worthy of ridicule, so it makes sense.

However, he has engaged in far fewer catastrophic actions than his most recent predecessors. George Bush started an illegal war with doctored evidence which ended up wiping a country off the face of the earth and killing tens if not hundreds of thousands of innocent women and children either directly or indirectly. Somehow, the media was fawning over Bush's comments last week.

What's more alarming than the media's attacks is the attacks clearly coming from within the deep state and Americans are quiet about it because they hate Trump's personality or they are ignorant about American politics.

Trump brings it on himself. Tough? The media helped elect him. The least they can do now is question what they mostly overlooked before he was elected with a majority of negative two point eight million votes.

Are we still harping on the fact that California REALLY didn't like him as if it's something that really matters? You can point out legitimate things you don't like about Trump without undercutting your argument with stupidity like that.

I guess Texas really liked Trump.

We should not count Texas either.

You think liberals are going to like Bush more than Carter because of that one statement? K

Bush was signficantly more catastrophic for this country than Carter and one off hand comment isn't going to change that.

And when the highest office in the country and the most powerful office on the planet is held by a man who thinks that health and life insurance are the same thing and that the stock market pays for our national soverign debt, then yes, it rationally makes sense that the media will find the vast majority of the world's most powerful man's comments puzzling, tragic, or depressing... Often all at the same time.

    Why are people so surprised?

Most posters on this message board are more qualified intellectually to be president than our current president.

The 'indirectly' part shows that you are a bigot of low expectations.

Jimmys not wrong here but what Jimmy is leaving out is that no other president has created self made scandals on almost a daily basis on purpose. Just last week... admitted on Twitter the whole scandal is a play to the media.

Trump actually deserves worse coverage than he gets quite honestly. Just look at how the media and liberals rebuked Weinstein and look at how Trumps 16 or so accusations similar to Weinstein’s have become an afterthought and were never rebuked by his cult fan base.

Trumps agenda is essentially to flood the media with stories to the point of exhaustion and minimization. It’s blatantly obvious that’s what he’s doing and will continue to do. He will continue to get his scandals covered, his fans will say “it’s not fair... poor Trump”, the media and the people will minimize and let him get away with murder out of exhaustion, and Trump will laugh his way to either authoritarianism or the jail cell.

The media loved Trump when they thought he was a wrecking ball destroying Republican chances in the primaries. They were more than happy he was winning then. But if you think the media was helping him once he won the nomination, you are in denial. They were CRUSHING him every day.

So, yes...in a way you are correct. But the aid wasn't meant to get him elected...it was to help Clinton. It simply backfired.

Media conspiracies are big in wingnut circles. The media's goal is the same as it was before the election. Profits. Before the election it was look at this lying, ignorant buffoon running for President then you elected him President and it bacame look at this lying, ignorant buffoon who is the President. The clown show gets ratings.

Right because everyone knows the DNC and the Washington Post never held secret joint fundraisers.

Without context, President Carter's comments about the media and Mr. trump are meaningless, in my opinion. With context? The mainstream media gave Mr. trump a billion dollars in free advertising during the 2016 campaign and were far too soft on him.

The irony is that they, the legitimate news sources of this country, have suffered a non-stop assault from trump and his minions ever since. In response to the very predictable animosity towards trump from the legitimate media in part because of that continuing assault, trump's supporters seem to feel that their "man" is being treated unfairly. How terrible for them. Living a lie, the lie that the mainstream media is "fake news," must be quite stressful for trump's supporters, but it appears effortless for Mr. trump.

You are responsible for the predictable consequences of your actions.

We've had this discussion before IIRC. If you drive drunk 10 times, you're a murderer not a drunk driver. It absolutely matters people who died because the war made life impossible, and that's worse than Trump's 1 ill-advised drone strike or taunting north korea. Trump has not set fire to as many weddings, funerals and hospitals as was done under Obama. He'll probably catch up, but he hasn't.

I know this is a tough concept for first worlders to grasp, but molesting women or repealing healthcare - abhorrent and jail-worthy acts - is not worse than launching the war in Iraq based on doctored evidence that by American estimates killed 100k+ innocent civilians.

    Bless Jimmy's heart.

He really wants to go to NK and avert thermonuclear war.

I'm reffering to the unesessary petty civil war between Shia and Sunnis in the country just because an authoritarian asshat was removed. That conflict killed more Iraqis by a wide margin than American collateral damage. The war was still a catastrophic mess and we should have never gone, but the brunt of deaths in Iraq stemmed from the civil war, not American or NATO troops.
