Not to mention Harden was statistically the best Iso player of all time last year(as far it was recorded of course). And he's still great this year at 1.2 PPP

Well, the easy way to tell is to see which team is staying closer to their average pace every game.

If we play a high pace team and the pace of the game is right around our normal pace, then we slowed them down.if our pace is higher than normal, then they sped us up.

Look at most of our opponents. Their pace against us is usually less than their season average. That's the rockets slowing their pace.

Both are relevant stats. The difference is that time of possession has nothing to do with my post.

Somebody (Duece, I think) specifically asked how our pace this year compared to last year. I provided those numbers. Nothing more...no conclusions drawn.

You said that our pace this year was less because everyone is playing faster. I just pointed out that pace was a simple measurement of possessions per game. Again, no conclusions drawn.

I did point out was that what you were describing was time of possession. Still not making any argument or drawing any conclusions.

I'm not sure what you and HP think I'm arguing but I'm not drawing any conclusions whatsoeverever.

NOTE: In case you were wondering about time of possession.

Our total time of possession last year was 20.7 minutes per game. This year, it's 20.7 minutes per game.

Can't speak for HP. But I thought you drew the conclusion (based on the pace stats) that we had not played slower than last season, only that everyone else was playing faster. If that was not the conclusion you drew, then I misread you.

So you're saying we need to let Ennis run way more isos than anyone else! =)

No, I said our pace wasn't slower. It's almost identical as is our time of possession.

If you do want to look at whether we are actually playing faster, then here's the calculation (double check my math).

    Last year:
Our time of possession/game was 20.7 minutes. That equates to 1242 seconds per/game.
Our pace last year was 98.1.
That means that last year we averaged 12.66 seconds/possession over the year.

    This year:
Our time of possession/game is 20.7 minutes. That's 1242 seconds per game.
Our pace this year is 98.9
That means that this year we are averaging 12.56 seconds/possession.

So, you are correct, we are playing faster. Each possession is 1/10 of a second less than last season. I don't think that's had a huge impact on our offense compared to our shooting woes.
