Right now he is shooting 45.5% on threes. That is higher than Ray Allen has ever hit in a season. He is also close to breaking Allen's record of most threes ever in a season, he needs a little bit over 4 a game to break the record now.

What's separates him is that he can get his three off off the dribble. Something many sharpshooters have no capability of doing. Maybe guys like Novak could beat Curry in a three point shootout, but off the dribble is where it counts in an in-game situation.

I remember quite well that Ray Allen was pretty decent shooting off the dribble also....

Curry has some time before he can be considered the best of all time... But he certainly is heading in the right direction.

Allen never shot what Curry is shooting from 3 point land this year.

It's one year though. Maybe when he does it for 8-10 we can talk about all time.

Needs to sustain it if we're gonna talk all-time. Anthony Morrow put up crazy percentages for a couple years, Dana Barros shot over 46% on over 5 attempts a game one year. Glen Rice had that year where he shot 47% from 3 on 5+ attempts.

Curry's up there, and definitely the best shooter in the league at the moment.

Combination of volume and percentage is absolutely insane.

Ray Allen never did this anywhere near Steph good for 8-10 years. Check his stats. Ray never shot above .434 on 3s until he's a third option on offense two years ago at Boston. Meanwhile Steph started hot from the get-go. Only injuries will prevent him from maintaining the pace.

Who in his first four years shot the threes like Steph has? He's likely TBOA IMO. This season is just on a whole new level as first option with historic numbers on attempts and mades.

His father was as pure as they come but if he can sustain it, he's definitely in the top 5 of all time. I really like his brother in college, he just shot 7 or 8 threes in the last game of the NCAA tournament.

Not going to bother checking, but I remember at one point the 3-PT line was at 22-feet. Did Barros and Rice have these crazy percentages over that time?

Yeah, that was '94-'95 and '95-'96. Not everybody's numbers were boosted, but many did. Steve Kerr and Tim Legler shot over 50% during that time.

I hate it that the historical discussions doesn't account for that but most things in life aren't fair.. no big deal.

But with that line though, Jeremy Lin could be shooting close to 40% by now?

You can't be the "best" of anything when you've only been in the league for 4 years

    Sure looks like it.

Combined with great handles and passing ability, in the new NBA, this kid seems like a true franchise player. I rarely say that about Guards.

Well objectively, combining 3FG% and 3FA he might just have the best 3 point shooting season of all time, which definitely makes him best at something.

Even if his ankles turn into much he'll always have a place in the league as a shooting specialist. Talented guy.

Kinda shows how good Steve Nash has been. Though on far fewer attempts, Nash shot around the same percentages from deep while dishing out double digit assists, and overall FG% above 50%.

I'd say Curry is the best shooter now. He's the number 1 option shooting high volume and is shooting elite top 3 percentages, that should say enough.

Durant's the best from inside the arc.

Curry and Klay Thompson combined shoot 14 threes a game lol. This is the league now.

Well if you're talking season by season then sure...but "Greatest 3 PT shooter of all time" can not be judged in 4 years.

Saying that Allen has never hit that percentage in a season is misleading. Allen shot 45.3% last year, just 0.2% lower, hardly significant. And he hit 44.4% the year before.

That said, Curry has shot better than 43.5% in each season of his career so far. If he keeps up, he will definitely be one of (if not THE) the all-time greats.
