i would think 45 is open...all roadways are clear but be advised, galveston people are trying to get back to check on their property so 45 might be heavy towards g-town

update: 20 deaths in g-town, 10 in h-town, boil water order still in effect, PODs closing at 6pm, and curfew changed from 9pm to midnight to 6am.

So, was Ike worse than Rita? I'm guessing it was...at least on the monetary side. How do the monetary damages compare to Rita? Anyone know?

I'm in the Bellaire/Meyerland aread and I have power (although very few do). They are really on the ball though getting things cleaned up. Talking to a bunch of friends estimated times without power seem to range anywhere from a week to 4.

Oh was that you? I was sorta reading fast, all I saw was a callous post from a seemingly insensitive prick posting hundreds of miles away from the danger, I didn't bother to see who it was. My apologies on calling you a prick. ;)

I'll be heading over there tonight, keep the beer cold. ;)

    Rita < Katrina

Katrina figured in at about $41 Billion.

Early estimates for Ike are $81 Billion+.

DD, take it from me, your posts constantly complaining about a lack of rain in Austin and how you hope these storms come through Texas so you can water your lawn are a little insensitive and poorly thought out, IMO.

Fair enough......usually they are done early when there is no threat to anyone, and I think the post that he used was from Dolly.....lord knows I don't want anyone to have to go through a hurricane, been there, done that, bought the T-Shirt.

He has always been a DD hater....and there is no need for the kind of personal attack he tossed out.....

I'm pretty sure Austin and central Texas have seen drought conditions pretty much all year. DD was clear he didn't want it if it meant destruction along the coast. I don't see a problem.

But how can that be? Katrina seemed to be more destructive.

There was nothing insensitive about DD's posts. If anything you are being overly sensitive, so get off your hyper-PC horse.

There are alot more businesses here that have been effected and the simple fact is there is much more poperty to be destroyed/damaged here than New Orleans.
